Does Additional Card Holder Eligible for Travel Insurance Cover?

Will probably need to call up the bank to confirm, but I guess no harm asking here before I call up the bank.

Many gold/platinum/diamond credit cards include travel insurance cover, the policy also covers family members if the primary card holder is traveling together. Do additional (supplementary) card holder eligible for the same cover? I.e. additional card holder purchased the flights and traveling alone, any cover?

  • May vary. Read PDS to be final.
In short, for mine, yes it covers the family if purchased together and paid total amount in same cc,
Call the bank which likely will give you the blanket cover number and a phone number of insurance provider.

Okay, just called the bank and the under writer, the complimentary travel insurance (often included with gold/platinum/diamond cards) also applies to additional card holder. Even better is that the trip does not have to be paid by the card, the traveling card holder just need to activate the travel insurance by calling the underwriter or through online banking.

P.S. I left out the bank and insurer details to encourage future readers to re-confirm the T&C with their bank.

  • ALWAYS read the PDS, it is the only way to see if you are covered. If I have a specific question, I always email the insurance company to get their reply in writing, I don't reply on phone calls. And, be sure to keep a copy of the PDS in case later they change it and you are not aware of that. It is after all and insurance company we are talking about here.
