Does anyone know if you can take a 3 SIM card from an existing 3 phone with a data plan and insert it into one of these modems for use? Or do they use a special version of their SIM cards?
Also would it offer better data transfer than use a phone as a modem?

Yes, but the get you with the recharge costs. Also have to maintain a min 10mb balance [expires 30days] to get the unlimited facebook access.
