AMD GAME PROMO: 2016 AMD APU, CPU and Discrete Radeon™ Graphics Cards Systems Campaign

Sign in or create an account
Download AMD Product Verification Tool and follow the instructions to redeem your game.
(After you choose your wanted game, click next again to skip the empty bonus offer. I got confused here haha).

Check T&Cs here or below to see if you own a qualifying product https://www.amd4u.com/amdgamepromo/files/2016_AMDGamePromo_T…
sorry for terrible copy&paste, better look at the pdf

Some problems with detecting CPU. Possible work around until fixed is to send them an email with proof of purchase and Serial Number(see the pdf above for details) T&Cs say only eligible for products purchased during campaign period so ultimately this promo only applies to new systems. seems to work well if you only have a qualifying GPU(no AMD CPU). even if you have an AMD GPU but you also have an AMD CPU, it will scan the CPU first and fail. had my r9 270x for 2yrs and it worked.

Cheers, just ran through the process and was able to get myself Batman

  • +16

"Your hardware's Serial Number has already been redeemed" … well this concerns me

    • you can claim it manually with a receipt too.

    • Yep same here.

      Great work AMD…

      • +2

Same here as well, there's time and bandwidth i'll never get back

    • +3

This has happened to me in the past with a different off. Turns who worked for my local MSY redeemed the code. :/

      • +1

Lol I guess that's what happens when they are cheap. Use the code to gain more profits either their staff do it cause they are low paid or selling those codes out

  • Great deal +1 thanks OP

  • +1

I already scored Alien Isolation and Sniper Elite 3 with my R9 290 eighteen months ago.

Went through the verification process, and it says I am eligible lol…might grab Dirt Rally!

Apparently it is only for recently purchased prebuilt systems?

It dosent even try to notice my 290x it just says could not find processor name and exits

    • +1

me too. Can't find processor (FX-8350)

      • +1

Yep me too I have an FX8320 and an r290. I had to log a support ticket. Sigh It's disappointing that in my experience with AMD they can be counted on to always stuff it up.

    • +1

      I got "Manufacturer is invalid".

      • same i have a reference r9 290x

  • Cheers got myself Dirt Rally.

  • +1

processor name could not be found :(

    • Same here, despite my 8350 CPU being on the list

      • well it seems like an 8350 thing then because I have one too. Not even worth bothering trying to find a receipt from so many years ago

    • +1

Same here. Not even going to bother.

  • +1

Apparently this promo is only for select pre-built computers but if people are able to get other computers working, that is a bonus. https://www.amd4u.com/amdgamepromo/files/2016_AMDGamePromo_T…

  • Thanks! I got myself Dirt Rally which is the most expensive on the list I believe if purchased through steam.

  • +1

I got "Your processor name could not be found. Please try again or contact support."

Unfortunately, I don't have the receipt for my 280x anymore…

  • +1

Worked for me, i've got a self built machine with an R9 290X.

  • +3

Ended up scoring Dirt Rally…am feeling generous, so will be giving it away (along with a few other games) later this evening on Whirlpool if anyone is keen ;)

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2444826

    • Dude, I'm super keen to get Dirt Rally but none of my three qualifying AMD products are verifying… can't be online later, any chance you can help me out?

      • +2

Have just posted games give away here…will put your name in the hat for Dirt Rally:

        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2444826&…

        • Cheers - just posted over there too.

        • Hi there! Can I put my name in the hat for any games on the list? I'm not fussed! Will see where the lucky wind takes me. :D Thanks.

        • @moo:

          Will do.

    • Can I please put my name in the hat for Populous and Dirt Rally?

Misplaced my Whirlpool login details so cannot post there at the moment. Stupid me.

      • Done ;)

        • Thank you very much.

  • +1

Seems there is an issue with the verification if you have an AMD CPU installed. AMD looking into it according to reddit.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/46nidg/amd4u_free_game…

    • +3

Doesn't work with my Intel CPU either.

  • Scored a copy of Dirt Rally, I have a R9 290x.

  • +4

Got as far as validating my card but once I'm on the retailer code page the skip button just seems to loop.

    • Same. :(

    • Same here

    • +1

You basically just have to click next and wait, and repeat that until it works. Just got Dirt Rally myself.

      • Actually pressing the next button or skip?

        • +1

Pressing next on the blank page that comes up when you chose your game.

        • @Subrising: the problem we are having is before actually choosing the game

        • +1

@Subrising: That isn't the part we're having issues with.

This is the page we're stuck on http://puu.sh/nex1t/2410dc6834.png

        • @razormadness:

Finally got past it (after a a while) and now i get

'Sorry, You have reached your limit.'

so logged a ticket with support.

    • it was happening to me too, but skipping it works now!

  • FYI - Deal worked for me however the promo code for Far Cry 3 doesn't appear to work as there is no Far Cry 3 in the ubi store.

    I knew I should've got a steam key…

  • +5

stuck at the 'Enter Retailer Code' page
when I hit skip, it just takes me back to same page

    • +1

      same here, any solutions?

      • Me 3, can't get through that page :\

    • try now

  • Got Dirt 3 thanks

  • Has anyone been able to successfully claim a game outside of the campaign period?

  • I don't have anything AMD, but just wanted to say thanks for the effort in your deal, OP. Not too many people take the time to detail their deals… cough

  • +2

No dice with the app for my R9 280X

    • Me either, running two of them in crossfire too.

    • Worked for my sapphire vapor x r9 280x (custom built)

  • Didn't work on the two FX-4350 CPU's I own in separate builds but +1 for letting us now :) Hopefully they sort out the issue.

  • It worked with my 2 year old 280x!

I wonder if there is any way the key could be revoked when/if they find out it wasn't a recent purchase and is not a component of a pre-built system from the listed vendors

  • Was looking forward to getting Dirt Rally but no dice with R9 290 with app either…

  • +1

not working and so many steps… :(

  • Doesn't work with my R9 290. I just get the "Your CPU could not be detected" error.

    • I got the error too on my 290s and ran the setup again then it worked

    • the card is something like 30 times more powerful than the FX-4320

FYI: the FX-4320 is a CPU, not a GPU.

    • Troll detected.

  • Another one here with no luck - three products on the list (R9 290, R9 380, FX-8350) and in each case I get the "Your processor name could not be found. Please try again or contact support." error.

I love how people with 2-3 year old systems are apparently having no problems, but those of us with current AMD stuff appear to be losing out. God it's hard to keep buying from this company at times…

  • +1

Error - "Your processor name could not be found."

    • +3

This app was written by the same team who make AMD's drivers, clearly.

      • +2

        Touche

      • -4

Lol at the neg (and my -8) - so many AMD Fan Boi's.

        • I think it's more your tone. It is indeed frustrating that AMD drop support for products so quickly, but you are never going to get a good reception by being so aggro about it.

The weird thing about this promo is that people with older products are in fact getting freebies, while people with brand new stuff are having issues.

        • @caitsith01:

I think it's more your tone

And the fact his bitching has nothing to do with the deal…

    • +11

Ive got Intel/AMD/Nvidia CPUs and Graphics cards, and aware of the performance discrepancies between the vendors, as are most people that have a functioning brain stem.

Oddly enough, I don't feel the need to validate my purchases on Ozbargain AMD free giveaway posts.

    • I hear that Intel is so much better all the time so I recently switched to Intel from amd… found no improvement at all :(
The only improvement I found was that I had more motherboards to choose from.

    • That brag wasn't even subtle.

  • Manufacturer is not valid.

    I'm using a MSI branded R9 380 with 4GB of RAM.

    Do'h.

  • Manufacturer not valid.

    Got an XFX 290x.

Why on earth does it matter what manufacturer it is?? Doesn't mention that anywhere in the T&C

Participating OEM Vendors and System Builders:

      OEMS:

      • Maybe you can go into Windows registry editor and change some values to trick the program into thinking that your computer was built by one of those manufacturers.

If you navigate to this directory in REGEDIT
        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation

you can add in some strings to give your computer a manufacturer name and a model number.

If your computer is a custom built PC, OEMinformation would not contain any keys, simply right click and point to NEW -> String value

Then give the String a name of Manufacturer and the value of Dell.
Then create another string with the name Model and the value of say, XPS 8900
If you want to give it a logo, you can create one called Logo and then in the value box type in the full path for a bitmap image. Just make your own using MS Paint, and make sure said logo is stored in the system32 directory
        (e.g C:\Windows\System32\oemlogo.bmp).

If somebody can try this out (I can't because the website seems to be dead for me) and report back, would be a ozbargain hero.

  • +2

AMD really need to hire better programmers lol, got a 8320 and ofc they can't detect it xD

  • No joy for my 3 year old system. Original Install Date 4/24/2013 with a 7900 series. But did get the bioshock + some crappy farcry standalone.

  • Did not work for me. I think my manufacturer not eligible for some reason.

  • Didn't work for me either. Ah well.. :)

  • +1

Their site doesn't seem to be working at the moment :(

  • we're sorry the type of computer system has not been verified please allow 48 hours to verify it and try again later

  • Sapphire Radeon 290 and the manufacturer is not eligible :(

  • XFX 280X not valid

  • Yeah getting the same message. 'Your manufacturer is not valid. Please try again all call support' - MSI 280x here.

  • i have a r9 390 and get the 'Your manufacturer is not valid. Please try again all call support'

  • I'm getting 'Your manufacturer is not valid' - i have a R9 380 Graphics Card.

    • Got that as well. Sent them a ticket with pictures 4 days ago and I reckon it'll take them a month to get to my ticket LOL.

Their programmers need to get their programs to explain what went wrong.

      It needs to list:
CPU: Checked (invalid or valid manufacturer)
GPU: Checked (invalid or valid manufacturer)

From their one line "Your manufacturer is not valid", I'm just assuming they checked my intel CPU and didn't bother to check my GPU.

  • Update:

    originally i had issues

Finally got past the 'skip looping issue' (after a a while) and then i got

'Sorry, You have reached your limit.'

so logged a ticket with support.

after sending them a photo of the serial on the side of my MSI r9 290 4g they resolved it for me,

i managed to go through the AMD online process and claimed DiRT Rally,

i purchased mine in june 2015, they asked for invoice but i side stepped that request and sent the serial instead

    good luck

  • Didn't work for me. Said to sent a support ticket with receipt. Won't hold my breath

  • Went back to try again today, was able to get past the retailer code screen no issues. Redeemed for Dirt Rally. I have a 280x.

  • +3

    Got this email in response

This promotion requires a manufactured and branded PC by participating OEM vendors / system builders that are purchased during the campaign period, February 15, 2016 - December 31, 2016. This promotion is not for custom built PCs with AMD GPU and APU/CPU components.

  • I'm getting error of "cpu not found" in the verification, I have an i7 4770k, and gpu is R9 290X, any ideas?
