Great price for a current model machine… though the suggestion is the Mac Pros will be updated soonish… (probably the reason for the price actually)
Also would be better if you didn't put your affiliate link in there.

iMac can't replace the need for a tower, for those who need a tower.. (upgrades, more storage, more RAM etc)
Anyone with a need for a Mac can't replace that need for a mac with a PC. But let's not do the mac vs pc thing PLEASE.
@[Deactivated]: Indeed! :) i'm only going by Specs as macs over the years are more PC then they have ever been!
@[Deactivated]: "Anyone with a need for a Mac can’t replace that need for a mac with a PC"
Well they can, with osx86.@PainToad: If you want a tacked on OS you need to constantly fiddle with, why not just use Windows? Kinda ruins the point of Mac OS.
@[Deactivated]: Actually on the right hardware, there is no "tacking", boot retail and no differences.
@PainToad: And what happens with updates? Do they work?
@[Deactivated]: If you use the right hardware, and use a retail disc rather than one of the noob p2p hacked copies, then yes updates work fine.
This is a Mac, not a PC. You can't compare a Mac Pro to building a pc. Yes it's cheaper but not as integrated, doesn't run OS X Snow Leopard etc. etc.
That price for the 8 core is awesome. It supports 4 hard drives(an iMac supports 1). The Mac Pro is much better if you a serious computer relying on your gear for intensive things like movies, audio and photo making.
The i7 iMac isn't as fast, it's still a great computer so don't get me wrong, but it's still not in the same class as the Mac Pro- but then again why should it be.
All I can say is I wish I had the $$ for this. I would buy 2.
Great deal, should remember to keep an eye on the refurbs!
