Just saw this on PriceHipster. A tad more than the digital version just before Christmas, but still a pretty good price, especially for those who like to collect the boxed versions of the game.

How much does WoW sub cost these days?
AUD$16ish. A company that actually charges us close to the US price. A nice change.
Cataclysm is also 97cents at Dick Smiths if anyone needs to catch up
cataclysm comes free now with base game, and wod should too once the new xpac releases
Currently 36,722 gold.
Or
$20 a month.
$20?
Game time is $39.95 at JBHifi.
For 60 days.
I'm not exactly sure why would anybody go for game card though. It's a lot more expensive than buying it online.
Currently recurring subscription is 16.50 AUD/month. And if being charged 3-monthly is equally 15.50 AUD/month, and if half-yearly is 14.50AUD/month.
Do many people still play this game?
I Gave up on it when it stopped being fun (just after cataclysum was released)
It still has an active community. I stopped playing seriously after wotlk, playing casually from then told pandaria. Stopped then. The games no fun if you don't have any friends as the community seemed very cliquey and the social aspect felt disjointed since the raid and group finder options.
Wtb friends for online gaming
It's lost about half it's sub base since the end of WotLK, with most of the sub loss being from this Expansion (WoD). It's still the most popular though, but FFXIV is pretty close now.
Physical copies come with the discs (for those with low quota) and some pretty cool postcards. I enjoy collecting the WoW boxes.
