Claiming extended warranty on TV following manufacturer warranty claim

After some advice regarding my current situation.

Current TV was repaired within first year under manufacturer's warranty.

The repaired TV now is no longer working 3 years later however I have extended warranty (purchased during the original transaction).

What are my rights? I'm worried that given its been repaired it's no longer covered?

How should I approach this when calling the extended warranty company?

The TV is a Samsung PS64E8000 if anyone is intended.

  • How should I approach this when calling the extended warranty company?

Call them and say it isn't working any more. Unless they ask don't say anything. If you can get the repair log from Samsung so you can prove (if necessary) it was repaired through them under warranty.

  • I'd be calling the shop where you purchased the TV originally & then stay mute about the previous repair. Then, if something goes pear-shaped, you can become indignant as in, "no one told me a previous repair would disqualify the extended warranty (& I doubt it can).

    Good luck!

  • Extended warranties are usually provided by the retailer. It should be no hassle as this is what they are for. Just say it's broken give me a new one.

  • +5

Of course it's covered. They could repair it 100 times under warranty if you were happy for them to do that. Warranty doesn't mean you only get a one time repair.

  • It can be repaired as many times as it takes under warranty

we had a samsung plasma that failed we got it through jb hi fi contacted them with warranty number.
They arranged for samsung to collect it and send to a repair center. Took about 3 months but they replaced it with a
new plasma of the latest model at the time.
