What a great price for the hazelnut spread especially. IGA current sells this for $5.19 but couldn't find it at Coles or Woolies. Called a store and confirmed they're getting heaps of these over the weekend and all will be well within best before dates. Available in smoothe & crunchie. Starts Monday.

You had me worried, so I called a store again. They checked a jar and said it's Made in Belgium. Not sure if that's good or bad lol
Well that's good. If it was made in China there's no way i would have eaten it.
Can I ask why?
@IHateFrasierCrane: I would imagine it's cos their track record hasn't been great: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Food_safety_incidents_in_China
What would the Belguim know about chocolate?
they've tried selling it at woolies and it didn't take off (presumably too much loyalty to the Nutella brand). I reckon it is actually nicer than Nutella, a fresher hazelnut taste (although the one I had was a red label, same but 'crunchy' I suspect).
Once Coles & Woolies de-list your product (for not meeting minimum sales of something like 7 units a week per store) you're screwed, and then you have to find alternative outlets for the product you already have made in storage. So IGA & NQR. Aldi probably won't take it due to having a branded label, they want to push house brands wherever possible.
Hence so cheap.
Awesome insight. Thanks for this :)
The chronic "range review" time dominated by coles and Woolworths
It's actually that they've just changed the label.
If they are the same ones that I saw in Ashburton last week. They have expired.
No, confirmed April expiry.
2 months from the expiry date, figures why it's going for so cheap.
It's actually best-before. I don't think they don't carry product with expiry dates as such. I could be wrong.
Oh yeah you're right. Turns out we have a Kraft Hazelnut spread made in Belgium here and it has best before on it.
Should be right for a few months.
They have meat and dairy as well so there are "use by" dates.
What is the difference between Kraft Hazelnut spread and Nutella?
More info here:
http://kraftnuts.com.au/range/12/hazelnut-spread-smoothIngredients:
SUGAR, VEGETABLE OIL, HAZELNUTS (13%), COCOA POWDER, MILK SOLIDS, EMULSIFIERS (471, 322), SALT, FLAVOUR (CONTAINS HAZELNUTS).
That means that sugar is the major ingredient then the cheapest nastiest oil is they can find is next, then, and only then, do they add in a few hazelnuts. Just for flavour.
It is not a hazelnut spread, it is some sort of sugary oily flavoured goo.
Same is true for Nutella though.

Were you actually expecting something else? That is pretty standard 'hazelnut spread'
wish they bring the Lavaza
and map coffee capsules back soon
running out from last dealIt's more chocolatey than Nutella, think of belgian chocolate. i'll be sad to see it go. the honey peanut butter is nice too, the cashew not so much.
you forgot the $1 butter
damn, that's cheap. I tried it when it was in woolies. Still prefer nutella though.
My friend just gave me a jar of Ovomaltine - that's even better than nutella! Mmmmmmm.I bought the magnum tub a couple of weeks ago. ..as a chocolate lover it pains me to say it's awful. Anyone else tried it?
I haven't, but coincidentally a friend of mine just talked about it yesterday. He said it was really, really good. Dunno…
I hope the hazelnut spread isn't as disgusting as the crunchy one. It has a horrible oily and buttery taste with very little chocolate or hazelnut flavour. Nutino is a far better choice if you want more hazelnut and less chocolate than Nutella.
I bought both, the hazelnut spread is yum. The magnum ice-cream vanilla choc chip disgusting. And that is saying something as I have never turned away ice-cream, not even worth 50 cents let along $2.50.
Better be careful. You'd better hope these aren't imported Kraft Hazelnut made in China or some thing. Can't think why else they would be able to sell it so cheap.
