I went with AGL in the end (with 17% discount I think).
If you look closely at Dodo and EA, they both have an INCREASING cost for power and gas as you use more of it. However, since i moved into a house with a pool and air conditioner, i figured i would use more power than before. It was fairly comparable really once i crunched the numbers and i had to make some assumptions about the power use a larger house + pool pump
Like i said though, they are fairly comparable, you probably wouldn't really lose any money either way
I've been with Dodo for power a couple of years now and they've been perfectly fine from both a service and price perspective. They did pester me to sign up for their other services, but stopped after I firmly told them I do not want unsolicited calls.
What about for electricity only?
Im online with Energy Australia and you can get 19% off electric 17% off gas with $50 off each bill if you do both gas and electric together for 12 months. Just letting you know existing customers can get this deal. For the hassle I'm staying with EA with the new deal I'm on now.
Go with Energy Australia on their EnergySaver plan.
You get 19% off and $50 now + $50 later discount. Now, here's the important bit: Since you are in NSW, you can get electricity charged based on "Time-of-use (TOU)" instead of Tiered pricing.
Work out which is cheaper for you.
(Note: For some reason, all Elec&Gas companies only display Tiered pricing online. Call them if you want TOU instead.)

I called Energy Aust and want to cancel my plan got it from Iselect.
They ask why i said Dodo gave me 20% discount , then they said they will
give me 20% if i stay with them. They should have advertized it in the first place.
I have been meaning to look into the same deal. I am currently on Energy Australia and receiving a discount for on-time payment. Havent sat down to compare the rates, but I'm here listening.
