  • You should probably post a scan of your receipt.

  • expires tomorrow

    good work

  • The advertised price is $129 less $30 gives $99. So your saysing that the the hdd the best price you negotiated in-store was $109? Then just used the discount coupon at the checkout and got it for $79. Cheaper than a standard internal 500gb WD 2.5" which start around $100. Although not every Bing Lee is willing to negotiate as well as others.

Anybody know what model hard drive these external drives use?

    • Read it again. He said the price instore is $109.

      • He also said "Negotiate the best price" which implies the in store price is not $109.

        • price on lable in store is $109.

          • @xdzzy: Thankyou for the clarity.

  • Anybody know what speed the actual drives are? eg 5400 or 7200

Also I assume they are sata?

    • Since this is the cheapest WD series of portable HDD, I guess you can always assume it is the cheaper version … which is 5400.

    • SATA 1.5Gbps / 8 MB / 5400 RPM

  • that is a great deal, first post too well done !

    From what I can gather.

    • No carry case supplied
    • Shiny piano black finish.
    • No external power necessary.
    • No extra bloatware or other unnecessary software installed that wastes space and can't be removed.

im gona go tomorrow morning to check this out.

p.s. so much good deals this week, hurting my wallet

    *edit
do you think i could get 2 of these by printing 2 vouchers, since it said 1 per voucher.
just thought i could negotiate further by saying id buy 2 instead

    • It also says "only one voucher allowed per sale."

I guess you could read that in two different ways, but I have a feeling it's one voucher per transaction. But who knows, might be flexible.

  • very good deal! i don't have a printer so i can't print the voucher at home - do you guys think Bing Lee will honour the price if i show them this web page?

No branches in Victoria :( too bad

  • awesome deal….too bad I can't get it! :( (in VIC)

  • Nice deal for a brand name 2.5in external drive. Best pricing for the same unit on StaticIce/ShopBot is around the $99 mark. Will pop down to my local store tomorrow to see if I can pick one up.

  • just print out two and go to two different stores

    there's shitloads in sydney

  • It's a [WDBAAR5000ABK](http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=675 "WD Elements 500GB").

  • Correct. Rang my local Bing Lee in Sydney. Told me over the phone the price is $109 and has plenty in stock.

  • Bought one today from westfield chatswood and they did not want to go lower then 116
I still boought it because I had a westfield voucher to use as well. Good deal again thanks and avoid Bing Lee chatswood if you can.

  • got it for 109 at fairfield and guildford. they have no more in stock though XD
the one at fairfield told me the best he can get it for was 120 initially even though i referred to 'someone who got it for 109' (noob sales rep). he even asked me what the guy's name was who got it for that price so he search it up.eventually when i was about to leave the store, the manager called me back and said i could get it for 109 lol…

    • Argh. I was looking to buy a unit from one of those stores. Guess I'll have to try my luck elsewhere… :(

  • hi,

I just got it for $80 (with the voucher)at binglee Alexandra…the sales guy wasnt too impressed as I sorta went for bargaining first before showing him to voucher. There seems one still left there if anyone still wants it..

Thanks for such a great deal.

    • The newest Bing Lee store in Monavale had to convince the sales guy to sell me the hard drive for $109 less $30. As he tried to sell me $129 as that was written on the voucher. Took all of a few seconds to get them to honour the price after the sales manager told him to do the deal. About 10 still left on the shelf after I left.

  • Hornsby Bing Lee

    Me: How much is it?
    Sales: $99
Me: (great! I could get it for $69 as $99-$30=$69. I don't even need to negotiate)
Me: I will take it and here is the $30 online voucher. Make it $69 for me.
Sales: I already gave you the $30 discount as original price was $129 and $129-$30=$99.
    Me: (#$%#%#^)
Me: I would like to negotiate with you.
Sales: Ok, the lowest price I can give you is $115. After using $30 voucher, it is $85. And I cannot go lower than that.
Me: Someone got it for $109 and with $30 voucher, he got it for $79.
Sales: Sorry, the lowest I can give you is $85.
    Me: …. (left the store)

It is not because the price is expensive. It is because I felt cheated when they offered me $99 initially without telling me that they already factored in the online voucher.

    • Same thing happened to me when i showed the guy the voucher…he said the lowest he could do was $115-$30=$85…i said the same thing that someone got it for 79..then he went ok….I have been doing all the backing up of my laptop since:)

  • Picked up a unit at Bing Lee Casula for $84 ($114 less $30). I did mention that a 'friend' had purchased it from another store for $109 but the salesman said that was the best they could do.

In the end I just bought it as it was only a $5 difference. It isn't as good as $79, but I'd still call it a fair bargain as it still beats everything else currently advertised on StaticIce/ShopBot.

  • this is what i hate

if you put in a voucher offer HONOUR THE GODDAMN VOUCHER

i didn't bother to go as i could feel my blood boiling over dealing with the retards at Bing Lee

what's the point of using a voucher your stores wont' honour?

  • Went to my local Bing Lee, the price was $129 …. left the store!

    • Same with the one I went to in Chatswood. With Bing Lee they do something on their screen and they tell you the lowest they can go and generally it is the same across all of them "which should have been 109".

  • Told my friend about the deal and voucher. He went to bing lee haymarket. They wouldn't honour the deal. Price was $129 plus voucher so $99. Salesman wouldn't consider lower price at all. Friend left store.

  • I managed to have the price lowered to $105 before using the $30 voucher. $75 is cheap! Thanks for sharing this bargain.

    • Very good, what store and state?
