Just about to book a tic via QFF point from SYD -> HK, Cathay -> Qantas return needs 63000pts and cost $217.81 while Cathay -> Cathay needs 70000 pts and cost $144.34. The difference is $73.47, does it worth 7000 QFF or should l go for the Cathay Cathay route?
Ideas?
Should l pay an extra $73.47 to save 7000 QFF point?

Barely any difference, 30 min deficit
I'd say it's about even, so go with whichever suits your itinerary better.
Agreed. 1c/point, give or take, is about right.
Living in Austrlia, if you can get a Qantas seat, I'd use the Qantas points first.
I find that Cathay reward seats seem to be easier to get than Qantas - I don't know the reason, but I put it down to Qantas being an Australian airline and lots of people here having Qantas FF as their frequent flyer program - which in turn means much more competition when trying to redeem seats.
My economics professor always said - Cash is King.
So given everything else being the same, I'd pocket the cash and spend the points.
do the Cathay times work better for your itinerary? apples and oranges - depends on your individual requirements
