Can you describe the situation a bit better? What free card are you referring to? do you take it to a vending machine to redeem? How do you obtain the Free card? Are they giving it away at the station you mentioned? Ta..

Sorry newbie. The free card is being distributed by the UP&GO staff, they are wearing blue shirt near the vending machines. Just go up and get it for free. The location is on Woolworth side and a little further down. Hope this helps.

  • Town hall only? Has anyone seen it at other stations?

Free or not, this stuff is terrible for you - far too much sugar!

Funny, I clicked this to make the exact same comment.

The perception of something being healthy and it actually being healthy continues.

If you are overweight - don't drink this stuff.

      • How did it rate 4.5 on the health star rating scale?

        • +2

for the same reason milo gets a 5 star health rating - the system is broken (it was developed by the food industry). food companies use it to their advantage to portray processed food of questionable benefit as healthy

@mtg: I feel like it was more designed for growing kids than adults.

      • I drank the stuff then became overweight. :)

  • the machine not working as of 8.30am but you can get the card and come back later.
the card is just plastic without barcode just some random number. how to use it on the machine, anyone tried?

    • machine working @9.00am

      • how to use the card? i mean there is no barcodes just number..
is there some kind of reader? so the card using NFC?

        • paywave style, then wait a few secs till it says 'make a selection'
          card gets binned after use.

Can someone please explain the weird logic of paying people to stand next to a vending machine handing out freebie cards to insert in the machine to get the freebie - when the machine is broken?

Why not just have people handing the freebie to you to have on the spot?

The only thing I can think of is they are planning to permanently install the machines at these locations and they want to condition people to use them.

    That I can understand.

But if it's just a temporary promotion its a bit of techno overkill.

    • yes ofcourse permanently will be there.. and other stations.. its just like normal vending machine, big and heavy.
the issue is the machine next to woolies and wollies also sell them..

    • Maybe they want to entice people to buy the drink from these machines.. hopefully you will see how convenient one can be.

Good thing is you can re-use any read-only nfc tag for your own purposes.

  • Has anyone tried the new peanut butter flavour? Is it any good?

    • I didn't think much of it. Its the same sort of peanut butter flavour as the peanut butter Tim Tams.

      • Ugh, if it's the same peanut butter flavour like Tim Tams then no thanks, wouldn't even try it!

This was my favourite breakfast for about a year and a half. At the end of that time I realised I'd gained 10kg and didn't have them again.

    +1 :)

    • so 10kg more = mission accomplished? :)
why not try the light version something like fat free up and go i think i saw one at coles

      • +1

Yeah I think there are some healthier alternatives available. I've opted to eat porridge for breakfast instead. Tastes like crap. Good for you.

        • +2

An Up & Go and (average size) bowl of porridge both have ~200 calories.

The only thing that makes you gain weight is calories; it's simple science. Switching from 200 calories worth of sugar to 200 calories worth of porridge is not going to make you lose any weight.

I have an Up & Go Energize for breakfast every morning, it has a great macro split:

          24.8g carbs
          16.8g protein
          3.8g fat

        • @Haters.Inc: Changing to porridge worked for me. I'm pretty sure that the weight loss was, in part, removing refined sugar from my breakfast. Glad to hear it is working out for you though.

      • Light version tastes disgusting

    • Yesh happened to me too.

Super tasty, not good for you.

  • Please consider giving these to the homeless citizens of Sydney.
