Mastercard Debit Card?

Hey all, I now have a Visa debit card (thanks to ING), and with all of these tiger deals, I'd like to be able to buy flights without the "convenience fee". But, being the cheapskate that I am, I don't want to pay for the mastercard debit (hey, I've got a free visa debit ;P). So, does anyone know of anyone who does a free mastercard debit?

  • What is your question?

So ING charges you for using your debit card?

    • ING is VISA can't use on Tiger as they required MASTERcard.

    • ahh, yeh, didn't phrase it so well. I'm wondering if any of the banks offer a free mastercard debit card, like how ING offer a free visa debit card.

  • Commonwealth Mastercard debit is free if you deposit $2000 a month. I think the promo run till end of this month.

  • I too would like to know if there's a free or cheap MC debit card. Depositing $2000/month is not a cheap price. You're foregoing a fair bit of interest, and also you really should be putting some of that into super. Unless most of it goes out again immediately as mortgage repayments.

  • +1

  • Bankwest offers a free Debit Mastercard with a few of their transaction accounts, some of which are fee-free but (from what I can see) have certain conditions (e.g. minimum deposit per month like your salary).

As I don't know your situation, you'll have to look their their accounts to see which, if any, suit you.

  • Being a cheapskate open up a Woolworths Everyday Money Credit Card http://www.financecomparison.com.au/credit-card-woolworths-e…

Then close it before the end of the year.

This will even give you $50
