Was wondering can anyone give me any information (process, costs etc.) about hiring an area (small) in a shopping centre for commercial use. I am referring to setting up a space (not a store) similar to the ones you see like the phone repairs and nails for ladies.

I haven't personally, but only last week struck up a convo with a guy selling Balinese bits'n'bobs at our local forum.
He said it was quite reasonable rent @ $500 per week. Now, we're talking about 80km from Perth— so if it's a big centre, expect higher pricing.
One thing he noted about ours being so good (besides the weekly rate) was that for what he sells, the fact that there are about 4 or more retirement villages nearby was a big plus. The oldies love to decorate their little places with knick-knacks.
So, the original rule of business applies: know your audience. Who are you selling to & are they where you intend to set up shop? Do you have direct competition nearby?
