Got some last minute leave approved from work but cannot think of anywhere to go for the weekend of February 26-29. If there are any suggestions on deals or ideas for somewhere in New South Wales (particularly near a beach) I can go with the girlfriend that would be great.

I highly recommend Forster / Tuncurry. Very cheap accommodation, right near beaches and water. We stayed at an airb'n'b that was spectacular - right across the road from the lake, stunning sunset views, gorgeous apartment. There's also a lot of camping there if that's what you're into.

Not near a beach, but go to Thredbo / Jindabyne and climb Kosciuszko. You can consider it a start to your "7 summits" mountaineering achievements (*). They have other activities as well including boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and chilling out. The Novotel at Lake Crackenback is nice.

hey mate i stayed at hungry head cabins with the missus a while back, location urunga- about 20 mins from coffs harbour.
it was only about a hundred bucks a night for our own cabin with a big bed, pay tv, full kitchen and a nice bathroom.
the place was deserted so we had the whole place to ourselves, the beach is about a 2 minute walk from your door.
bellingen is only about 10 mins from there too mate theres plenty of really good cafes and bakeries plus the best hand made chocolate shop in the state!
