[SA] 2015 Mitsubishi ASX AWD XLS

Hey guys,

Looking around in ADL for a Mitsubishi 4WD 2015.5 XB ASX XLS 4W best advertised i can find is 35k. Worst comes to worse could get interstate and get one but would prefer to save the hassle.

Anyone got any pointers dealing with car sales people? Most i've dealt with thus far are that's price take it or leave it and just don't bother to haggle (weird as it's a lost sale). I've seen a couple as well who will just lie saying the car is the model i am looking for at a reasonable price 31k but then upon looking it's the model down then try to push.

Thanks

  • How long have you been looking for, and asking dealers prices for?

  • since since beginning of Jan.

    • And there's your problem. Don't negotiate if you're not ready to buy right there and then.

definitely worth a look - even if you pay $1500 for transport

get the dealer to cash in the rego and reduce the price by that amount

are you set on the ASX - they don't get great reviews

Do you really want this car? On paper it looks like it ticks the boxes, but in reviews it gets slammed. It is also a very old car. Oh and its a Mitsi.

  • I had a look at the Nissan, mazda and hyundai to be honest they didn't look as good on the value for money side. The drive was nicer in the asx as well on test drive

Personally I think it's a poor choice. I'd get the Mazda or wait for the new Tiguan

Ultimately whatever you choose will be reliable.
However a couple of things with the ASX while they're reliable and good looking but underneath older technology.

Take for example, the engine in the petrol version it is a "4B11" which is the same engine that has been in the Mitsubishi Lancer since 2007. The MAZDA, Hyundai and Nissan engines are much newer and are more efficient so they deliver better economy.
Cabin noise is often a problem with the ASX, Mitsubishi saves money on noise damping and cheaper tyres.
Space wise an ASX vs say an Ix35, puts the Ix35 in front in terms of boot size with seat up and down. The ASX id 140cm from the boot to the backs of the front seats, the ix35 is 168cm boot to the back of the front seats and is slightly wider too.

Then there is the CVT automatic transmission, Mitsubishi still hasn't cracked the code for it, they're jerky, make a harsh sound, but they're reliable at least. Suburu XV is a similar sized car and the CVT is generally considered to be good, for a CVT.

I am not ASX bashing, they're a well built and reasonable value and yes in 2015 they did make some tweaks to the suspension to improve the ride and handling.

Just keep in mind though other than, a touch screen, a reversing camera , a few minor face lifts and new wheels it is essentially the same as when it came out in 2010.

      Best of Luck
