Can't find this cheaper anywhere right now.
Have a great weekend :)
Is it much better than the Sandisk one? Because 480gb for 180 seems to be better value.
Only $16 more for better performance and reliability
True, but you'll be unlikely to notice any real-world difference in performance between the two, and Samsung have a terrible track record when their SSDs actually do have problems.
I've only had 2 faulty Samsungs personally, but I still remember the way they denied the problems with the 840s for such a long time, and how they ridiculed customers who complained to support.
This is ridiculously good GB:$ value if you want to get into the SSD scene
For $20 extra the Samsung probably worth it, the EVO's are a beast of a drive performance and durability wise compared to sandisk.
Really? I remember reading the Sandisk had better durability?
Sitting on the fence atm, not sure which to go for
evo a850 (3d cell) is their 3rd gen cell so durability is supposed to be the same as MLC cells . Its traditional TLC that is to be avoided.
But then it also depends how many extra cells are in the drive so that worn class can be relocated.
Most SSD are fast, most are durable , only factor seems to be the controller and firmware to make on drive better than another.
I'm sure I will be upgrading to 2TB before my 500G and 1TB drives wear out.
It is very much a $ per GB market with little tangible factors setting one drive apart form another.
my Indilinx 64gb is still kickin a$$ though
6th year anniversary
the 960 sandisk was $275 delivered from amazon….
Can u get us a deal on the 960gb
it gets to point where you want big drives because you have a limited number of sata connectors ….. can't see my self every buying less than 1TB again.
Assuming you're not using a laptop, a PCIe SATA controller can add more connections, or a new motherboard, I have probably 8-9 SATA ports and an M.2 connector, all except 2 SATA ports are empty. This was a low-mid range Z97 chipset too.
Great price. Add in Cashrewards and it's even sweeter! Bargain.
Damn, forgot Cashrewards. Can't say I have ever used one though.
But $180 is as good as it gets for local stock. We had one from Amazon not long ago for around $166 or so… One just can't get enough of larger size SSD! Thanks OP.
yeah my mx200 1TB was about $330 from amazon and that was a few months ago. The 1TB sold quick, the 500gb moved slower on amazon at the time of the deal.
I'm 70 years old and still good for another ten. Am just wondering if I should wait for a 10TB SSD for $50 or get in now on this deal?
You should wait. Your current drive will make those 10 years look like 20…
All the manufactuers are striking similar technology issues except Intel and Crucial.
Make the tracks too thin, and durability is impacted, but you get more memory per wafter and reduce costs.
So now they build the NAND upwards hence Samsung 3D, so they can make the tracks thick again for durability and get more in the same space.
Intel and crucial have new technology 3D Xpoint …..10 time denser, 10 times fast, and ultra durable …..
It gets to point where they transition to new technologies as the margins become too low and they free up production for more profitable products.
I would get on this deal …. the enjoyment I've gotten from moving to SSD is more than I might have saved waiting for price drops.
Next upgrade will be take out the 500GBs I have and move to 1TB when 1TB is $200.
It's like intel CPUs ….. they phase out a CPU, bring in a new one for similar price that is fast and better, don't see intel selling I5 4th gen cheap …. they phase out and give you more in the 5th and 6th gen for the same money. Floor space in a plant costs money and they want to make the most per m2 …. so products phase out.
I got same drive from black friday amazong sale for $161Aud including shipping.
so this price is great from aussie seller…… sadly my drive died after 2 months… but warranty was smooth (2weeks) and i had a new drive which seesm to be fine now.
I don't have such bad luck though I mistakenly paid for a copy of paragon migrate os to ssd (paid a$20) as I had a few systems to upgrade and this was a product people raved about. I ended up using the free macrium reflect for every pc and notebook to do the job. A painful $20 down for nothing.
I use the easeus free version ….. move Windows 10 fine and don't need to reactivate
Well, thank your lucky stars that you have now got on to Macrium. Finding out, costs.
Just bought one, thank you OP. Great deal.
For $16 more I bought the 500GB EVO. The single listing is currently sold out, but they've been adding extra stock all week. You can still purchase it through their multi listing here
