Free MP3's through Guvera

190

How does Guvera work? Essentially, advertisers choose content that matches their brand values, and then set up channels offering such content to their targeted audiences. The advertisers can then run campaigns within those channels based on such factors as demographics, location, and so on.

Advertisers can also set a maximum fee they are willing to pay per person per download or stream (above a set minimum), with the revenues split between Guvera and the music or content rights owners.

officially launches on march 30th

currently in beta but accepting registration

MOD: updated website as per OPs request.

      nice explanation dude :) +rep

its an interesting idea, advertisers pay for music downloads. I can see it working for something similar to an itunes model, the picture would be say the maccas logo, and the album would be maccas.

Still, at the end of the day, bittorrent is still way to convenient for people to get free downoads…. apart from the legality.. (not condoning torrents in anyway)

      • Yeah exactly… Everyone does it, 95% of all music downloaded off the internet isn't paid for.

There are WAY better alternatives out there than bittorrent, unless you mean two certain private trackers which are decent.

        • grooveshark and limewire.

        • wow, my comment got negged cos they're are easier illegal methods to download music. /facepalm

  • I have registered with Guvera and so far downloaded 4 songs. Its reasonably painless if you want free legal music although the selection is average at this stage.
I wil stick with it to see what happens post Beta.

    Cheers

  • they havent activated my account yet :( how long does it take?

  • Not very long mine was about 10 minutes

    • its been a day and i havent got activated only registered :(

      • same, i'm still waiting after a day.

        • Mine took 21 hours, received confirmation yesterday evening.

Anyone getting "Sorry no channels available" or have I used up all my credit already?

  • Don't know if this would work but it's looking very promising. But i really doubt this model would come to movies/games. Piracy hasn't affected it in that much large scale compared to music.

  • Working great for me. There were a few teething problems at the initial launch date, but when I registered several bugs they were quick in emailing me back to say they were onto them.

The music selection isn't as broad as iTune$, but there is a reasonably good selection, and with time it will certainly grow. Especially good since it's free and legal due to advertising, but the creators are deliberately making advertising subtle and unobtrusive. Seems like a win-win situation to me.

    Great work Guvera!
