Hi, I'm hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm looking for a laptop that's good for editing videos on (I do a lot of this using Sony Vegas Pro). I've been researching and I think it should have an Intel core i7 (willing to go down to i5 if I must), at LEAST 8GB of RAM and a minimum of 500GB storage. My thinking is that I can always update the ram and storage later when I have some more cash, so the CPU is more important. I'd also like if it had a lot of ports (USB 3.0 preferably) as I end up accessing a lot of media from external drives (since my hard drive fills up too quickly). My budget is up to $1500 (but CAN go over a little depending). Oh and reliable. My old toshiba laptop has always had problems. I've been searching myself the last couple of months but it's been very slow going so I thought I might ask for some help ;)
Thankyou so much!

No, I need a laptop because I move between houses every week.
i7 likely won't happen but an i5 will.
What screen size you after?
I don't mind, thanks
@Spackbace: Thankyou for the suggestion. I'm going to keep it in mind. Refurbished is also OK (if the site is trustworthy).

Something like this, you decide if that's the cheapest.
Thankyou
Look for a second hand macbook, its what I did and it works great for editing.
I was thinking about doing something like that but I'd be very worried about its reliability
Well always try it before handing over the cash. I'd always go pre retina MacBooks due to being able to easily upgrade the ram and HDD.
Mobile i7 these days are dual core, so there isn't any significant advantages over an i5. I'd take a look at Clevos/Sagers, something like this:

~1300, Haswell i7, but its a true quadcore with hyperthreading
Thankyou for the advice. I have been getting very confused with the i5 vs i7. I'm looking at the laptop now and it does look nice. Thanks for the rec :)
Can't do it on a desktop?
