OK, yes, but what details of me are conveyed to the promoter? What if there were conditions, like having to answer questions, agree to terms or give a 25 word reason for wanting to win?
You will have to give up some info , if you're concerned don't enter..simple.

It is merely a way you can distinguish those you have entered from those you haven't.
Clicking on Mark as Entered doesn't enter your details, answer questions for you, consent to terms for you or generate winning responses to 25WOL reasons.

As Spackbace has mentioned, you need to click through the link and enter through the relevant website of the competition.
The 'Mark as Entered' feature is optional - it is only there for your own records.
It's useful if you enter a lot of competitions through OzBargain and you just want to tick off those you've entered so you can keep track of what competitions you haven't entered.
Exactly that…you have entered the competition , and I like to drop a +ve for the OP of course.
