Hey everyone, I'm only new but can see myself spending a lot of time on here!
I love a good bargain and have just started working (today) for www.scoopoftheday.com.au. That's why I'm here to be honest, to promote their deals a bit, but either way it's good to be on board!
Either they are all the same group. Or are all inspired by the same company overseas (GroupOn in this case).
What cities are you doing Scoop?
You're right in saying that there are a few similiar sites all popping up at the same time and the main reason is the success of Groupon in the States. You guys know your stuff!
The model has proved extremely successful over there, especially in places like New York, and we reckon Australia deserves the same. It's very simple; we post an offer (discounted between 50 - 90%), people get involved, once the minimum number of people is reached everyone wins! If not enough sign up then you don't pay a cent and nobody gets the deal.
Neil, at the moment the launch offers will all be for Sydney but soon after we'll be rolling out across the country.
Let me know when you expand to Brisbane :)

Indeed there are already quite a few groups starting from Sydney and it would be great to have the same concept working in other major cities. Might have less competition if you guys move into Brisbane first :)

There are about a zillion Groupon clones around the world now. Groupon is now valued at $1.35 billion USD. So I guess every new start up is going to copy their model…
Interesting to see that Scoopon is even copying some of the images used on the Groupon site.
I'm sure I've seen that hot stone massage pic somewhere :)
Is it just me or in the past month has there been an influx of these groupbuy restaurant sites?

Are these all related or did something change in the world where these all came out at a similar time? The sites even look very similar and they both offer $5 credit for signing up. The countdown on Scoop looks like Ouffers countdown.
I like the concept, just saying its a strange circumstance.
