  • Are there any Xiaomi piston variants that have an option to switch songs with the controls for Android? Never bought anything Xiaomi before, thinking of biting.

For my Oneplus you just hold the answer/hang up button and it'll go to the next track

      • did your mic work during calls? I need to get earphones for oneplus and most don't have there mic work

Yeah all functions work with xiaomi earphones. Can't say for these ones but piston 2.1 and 3 work perfectly fine.

          I do recommend piston 3

        • Ahh I might get piston 3's coz they have better review's that them.
          Thanks

The Youth edition is basically the same as the Dazzle edition posted but with a different controller that includes the song search (fast forward, rewind). But for a bit extra you should just get the Original Version.
Sorry the links are to Gearbest but I'm sure you'll find other sites that sell the same ones.

There's a couple headset apps that let you remap keys. I used the Jays one a couple years ago.

tl;dr Xiaomi headphones are very good value for money. Sound excellent. Great build quality. Headset Controller app on Android lets you configure Apple style controls on Android with the Piston 3s / Hybrid headphones

The Piston 3 and Hybrid headphones have 3 button in-line controllers. These Dazzle edition headphones just have 1 button. I’m currently using the Xiaomi Piston 3’s with Headset Button Controller app on Android (HTC One M8 – Marshmallow). The app and headphones work very well. I have it setup with the apple style controls I was used to – left / right buttons control volume up/down. Centre button 1 click play/pause, 2 clicks skip forward one track, 3 clicks go back one track. I'm pretty sure you can configure the app with the 1 button Dazzle headphones to play/pause/skip forward/skip back. I'd go for the Piston 3s or Hybrids though. The volume control function control is very useful, and the headphones get great reviews.

The Xiaomi pistons sound great. Easily on a par if not better than the Sennheiser MM30i I was using. They have a very good build quality for the price.

One negative is the buttons on the remote are pretty small, and a bit fiddly to get used to.
Just ordered the Xiaomi hybrids which look to have the same functionality. My Piston 3s are still going strong after over a year but the “Kevlar” cord is beginning to buckle and expose wire.

Despite the cable cover issue I can’t really fault the build quality. I use headphones daily and the Xiaomi piston 3s are the longest surviving pair of in-ear headphones I’ve owned. Under the standard 12 month warranty I’ve taken back every set of Sennheiser / Sony / Philips headphones I've owned multiple times because (usually) they’d lose signal in one earbud. This hasn’t happened to the Xiaomi Piston 3 headphones, and they cost 25% - 75% less than the headphones that’ve broken after just a few months.

    Are these any good?
I don't expect any crazy just something decent.

    I currently use the cx300ii

Get the xiaomi hybrid ~$25 and be happy

    • As far as I know, these use the same drivers as the Piston 3's-if so, they're a great deal. Probably technically better than the cx300ii's, but really depends on your personal preference.

    • I have the CX300 and I reckon they are on bar TBH.
Actually, I have two pairs of Xiaomi. The Piston & Youth Edition.

I dont have these, but bought the Piston 3rd gen a few months back http://www.tinydeal.com/upgrade-genuine-xiaomi-piston-3rd-ge…
They seem to be the same except the cable and remote is different.

The Pistons look great and the build quality is surprisingly good, better that the CX300 due to the thicker cable. I also find the earpiece to be much more comfortable, it doesnt fall out easily nor does it hurt your ear after long use. (one night i fell asleep with mine in and woke up next morning with one earpiece still in my ear and no sore ear!)

Sound quality is average, things sound OK but flat. Still not bad and certainly better than anything else in this price class. I do like the sound of Sehnheisers better, as the sound is warmer and more bass, but would point anyone looking for great sound for budget price to the Koss PortaPros

    • Re: sounding flat, I think that's just a problem with the v3. v2 and the new Hybrids are better IMO.

  • wats the dazzle edition?

  • No volume control on these. Bummer.

  • dollar dazzler mun

  • Are these any good for iPhone ? On the lookout for a decent earphones with mic. Don't like the apple one as it doesn't fit in ears comfortably

  • Thanks OP. Murdered some headphones the other day so bought 2 pairs!

  • This is cheap! Got it from singapore official store for like $14 bucks.
Sound quality is better than my first gen piston, might not be as good compare to those big names.
But it's a decent earpiece for this price. Great to have it as a spare.

  • No volume up/down which is a bit of a let down.

Best version is the Youth edition as the volume up/down works on iPhone as well.

Xiaomi are the best bang-for-buck headphones you can buy

I own the piston 3s and the sound quality is GREAT. i mean really really great. It's better than most to be honest. The thing I don't like about my piston 3s is I use them at the gym a lot, and after about 30mins when I'm sweating like a water fountain in las vegas the volume likes to turn itself down on the headphone controller. I know it's the piston 3s because I unplug and my s6 is fine it won't change the volume. So any gym junkies just letting you know what you're in for.

+1 for the OP, I'd rather prefer no volume controller. I use poweramp on my droid so you can set the button manually for 1 click pause, 2 clicks skip track and 3 clicks go back a track. Volume I don't play with so it's no use to me.

  • Thanks OP.

    Bought a pair.

  • Not sure about quality, but cant be wrong to give it try at this price. So bought 2.

  • Found these Piston 3 on ebay for $5.95, not sure are these genuine or not.

    • Can't tell , but there are lots of xiaomi fakes out there.

      • Hope tinydeal deals with genuine Xiaomis

    • It doesn't really matter since you can dispute with ebay if they are indeed fake since all the Piston 3 fakes out there are shoddily made and you can easily discern the difference.

  • Thanks OP. Worth a try for six bux! Gotta be better than my iphone earphones…

  • Thanks!

I have the Piston 3.0, and for comparison I also have Sony XBA-2 headphones, and the Sennheiser CX3.00

If these sound similar to the Piston 3, they're terrific value for money.

  • What are the delivery time on these? Still haven't gotten them..

    • 4+ weeks

      • Oh damn, do you know the delivery time approx on Mushtato?

  • Received my 5 today.

  • Wasnt this meant to be buy 1 get 1 free? Only received one.

    • No. Heading or description does not say that.

  • These earphones are great very good bass..not bad for 6bucks.
