Kitchen Mixer - Suggestions on What to Buy?

Hi all,

So I need a Kitchen Mixer for an upcoming present/gift to the missus.

Just needing some help from the kitchen gurus here - men or women - as to what to buy?

Ideally i'd like to hope nothing is $500-800 as those kitchen aids seem to cost… i'm looking for middle ground. Where the quality is decent, but not overboard for the everyday kitchen cook.

We both live at home, and she can and does cook at times but not regularly, so Wanting something that is middle ground and not high end home kitchen chef enthusiast.

Can anyone recommend firstly:

a) brand(s) to stick to for a kitchen mixer?

b) Price point?

c) any features or need-to-knows i should take into account in choosing a good kitchen mixer?

d) Any specific recommendations/models/price?

Ideally I think her old one could disconnect and be used as a handheld mixer rather than be bolted down? Would be good if this is a common feature?

Would appreciate any help, need it within the next week or so (by the 3rd of feb preferably)?

    • Thanks - but there isn't any specifications on here? Can you provide some advice as to why and what to buy? Just so I know what I'm buying or why it's recommended even?

      Thanks

      • The KitchenAid is the benchmark and you used to be able to get it from Amazon UK for about $450 AUD but currently it's > $500.

I just searched for good prices and found this at $368. It's $500+ at Harvey Norman and Bosch is a very good brand. Suggest you check reviews and/or Choice.

        • Ok sure. I will check reviews. Besides Bosch what sort of other brands fall around the KitchenAid benchmark?

Certainly no good mixer will do this - this is a feature in half-arsed mixers

Kitchenaid is the benchmark - Breville The Scraper Mixer Pro gets good reviews too:

    • I found the breville the scraper mixer for 299 at Myers including the icecream bowl (99 cost) free.

The choice reviews arent thrilling but maybe they're just the negative ones? Any big diff to the "pro" version?
