Just Got Radiator Repaired but AC Is Not Cold

Hi guys,

I just got my 1997 Toyota Camry's radiator changed due to a leak in it.
And now my AC is cool but not cold enough.
Do I need to put in coolant liquid? Or I have to get it fixed again?

Can I ask for any advice, please?

Thank you

Seperate system , maybe just a coincidence.

The radiator is seperate to the AC unit which has a compressor. It probably just needs regassing.

  • The fans are still blowing with cool air but it is not enough to cool the whole car.

How much will it cost for the AC regassing, please?
    Thanks.

It can vary but should probably be between $100-$200

They may have damaged the AC condenser when they replaced the radiator allowing refrigerant to leak - It is a seperate radiator that sits in front of the water radiator.

Go back and see the people who replaced your radiator and tell them the AC worked before and doesn't now. If they won't help go to a AC specialist and get them to find the leak with fluorescent dye - ask for a report from them stating what caused the damage, get it repaired and ask the first mob to pay the bill.

Take them to small claims if they refuse…

  • they can put a dye in the air-cond to test for leaks.

A cheaper solution to check first..

Behind your glove box . is a filer box . it has 1 or 2 air filter panels.. The panels should be white . if clogged buy more and replace.

I know a few air con service guys who rip people off and not even regas.

If you have your car manual in the glove box it will tell you how

They would have unbolted the condensor for the ac that attaches to the front of the radiator. Possible leak in ac system near condensor. That or they have completely removed condensor and failed to vac it and regas correctly, but I doubt. Most radiator changes dont require this. Also check belt on compressor
