Mobile Network in Hawaii

Hello fellow Ozbargainerz,

I will be going to Hawaii (Oahu & Maui) next month.
Which mobile network has the best coverage?
I'd mainly use mobile to browse internet and GPS/map, so good speed and data quota are also important.

Which plan should I get? I will only be there for about 2 weeks.

Should I get it from airport or it's cheaper elsewhere or the same price?

TIA

  • 2 choices. Either AT&T or T-Mobile. For the latter, there are all kinds of resellers (e.g. like Amaysim, Vaya etc are to Optus).

I've had no issues with T-Mobile. There are a few shops in Waikiki that can set you you up pretty quickly.

Cheapest and easiest is to buy from TravelSimDirect so you'll have the sim before you leave and most likely will be cheaper.

There is also a company that sells US sims (T-Mobile) in Sydney & Melbourne airports but that will be the most expensive option.

  • how much should i be looking at to spend?

    i checked travelsimdirect..

AT&T starts from $110 ?!!? is that normal price for prepaid in the US??

    • I would go with T-Mobile (or a reseller) if you are just there on holiday. Travelsimsdirect has it for $50 but I'd wait until they have another sale or one of their competitors.
