I want to check if any fellow ozbargainer are driving uber with car from splend. Their car rental offers seem better than using my personal car. Please share if you have any experience dealing with them.

thanks for the info. I didn't realise UberX driver would do 500km a night.
I'm not associated with these guys at all. I just saw their name on smh article, and I thought 275 per week for 2015 model car including rego, insurance and maintenance + replacement car during accident and new car upgrade every year sound attractive than putting kilos on my own personal car.
anyway, their offer does sound too good to be true
It isn't that their offer isn't true and/or accurate. It's just a lot of overhead to do uber driving. For me the idea of Uber is to leverage an asset I already have. I already have a suitable car, rego, insurance, roadside assist & did less than 10k Kms a year. So driving it for Uber was a big deal & wasn't really impacting the deprecation of the vehicle. If I was then to drop $275 on top of that a week for another car, my first $350 of income from Uber would just to be breaking even for the week. By then you would have done a decent number of Kms. And only then would you be making a profit for your time and that profit diminishes after 1000km. This could work for some people, but you need crunch some number and ask yourself how much driving you will be doing etc before you commit.
Advoid, if you do Uber full time the excess kms will kill you!!! They say fuel efficient cars but Kia Sportage gets 11-12L per 100kms, not very fuel efficient!!! If you have a minor dent, it has to be fixed urgently, and if you have no money, they just repossess the car!!
If you are a day late with payment it looks bad, when you try to make arrangements they deny you and threaten to report the car stolen!!
$269 a week rent, $90 a week for excess kms and $265 a week for fuel, was not a cheap exercise!!!
Glad I moved on!!!
Ps they lie to you when you get behind, they say they will help, 4 days later they change their mind and say come in for a chat or return the car, when you in for a chat they just take the car and leave you stranded!!!!
You got that right , after reneging on a sign up deal , at first not believing me I was offered it by splend on boarding but then having to conceded they said they didn't know what the deal was and I had to get evidence of the wording. Mainly cos the pulled down the page with the free car hire for eofy
Then they said that I should go in for a meeting – bring the car and I kept saying about ringing the car which sounded all to suss that I just seen that they were gonna take the car so I can go for a meeting pretty soon after I had a couple of the idiots think a neighbour some sort of Bounty Hunter follow me in the car bailed me up and stop telling me how I was wrong and the deal wasn't that good I've misunderstood which I hadn't be manager or whoever it was actually like a big silky kid good very very angry and he physically assaulted me in attempt to take the keys from the ignition in which you failed and received a sore arm so I don't believe and then report reported me to the police
I should be talking to the police tomorrow to tell them exactly what did happen and I guess I will be returning the car and the only reason I keep hold of it was to get to the date from which I had actually paid up to which is tomorrow morning and to stop in following me and tried to run me off the road again I successfully removed the GPS tracker and I think because I was scared for my life and this was the right thing to do
I haven't received any of the guests or training or anything that you meant to get the 275 fact when I was signing up I just come across a pack of rude (profanity) ready came in off at each other coffee but not the customers or anything they got me to do the inspection of the car in a dark room it was actually filthy he said one of the staff that use are carting wasn't quite full and they look like they have your car that yes to schedule day dinner and Have a greasy fingerprints all over the window because the car when I got home and in the light was an absolute disgrace of a tank of fuel they said that it was only missing one eighth is guys are (profanity) just young dumb idiot so (profanity) cowboys stay clear

I guess I will be returning the car which is 1 year old , 100,000 kms obviously been in front end smash , numerous issues and the only reason I keep hold of it was to get to the date from which I had actually paid as I've just forked out 275 membership and now can't get another car to use for work and as such can't work. tomorrow morning I had paid up to , well was Saturday but they stuffed up registering with uber so couldn't use intill Sunday and to stop themfollowing me and trying to run me off the road again I successfully removed the GPS tracker and I think because I was scared for my life and this was the right thing to do

This smells a lot like advertising. I just had a look and $275 for a week seems steep, that is $14k+ a year. For half that you could buy a cars that are suitable for Uber driving. You would need to commit to driving so many hours to make it worth while. Also you only get 1000km a week and then you pay extra. I Uber drive and do roughly 500km a night on weekend.
