    Was it actually ever $1399? I could be wrong, but it seems that Segals are a bit like rug retailers. Every week you have adverts in the paper with the same discounts, so it makes me think $899 is the normal price for this and you rarely (if ever) sell it for $1399.

    I know that sounds harsh, and again, I could be wrong, but that's the impression that I get.

    To be fair, I have found Segals to be good value. What you get for the price you pay is great. I'm just questioning the RRPs here.

    • Yep, same price since 10th January and OP has marked it as expiring at the end of March.

      This is just a standard price and there's no special discount here. I'd love to see when/if this was ever sold for $1399!

        What if the sale started last Friday?

        • +1

          What 'sales' do you know of that last 3 months?!

          Or is this like 1 of those closing down sales, that go on indefinitely?

          Either way, it's deceptive advertising and as I said, highly unlikely this has ever sold for $1399

          @Spackbace:

          highly unlikely this has ever sold for $1399

          Maybe it hasn't, but if this price is 50% cheaper than any other store, is it not a bargain because it has never been reduced?

          @ozhunter:

          is it not a bargain because it has never been reduced?

          No, and you answered your own question with the wording. If the item has never been reduced, and has never sold for $1399, then the store is using deceptive practises in order to push their product.

          Plus when it comes to seemingly unbranded items like this, who's to say if it's even a comparable item to a competitor?

        • @Spackbace:
          Yep, it is hard to compare to another product, that doesn't make it or not make it a bargain.

          I would yes it is a bargain if other stores are selling this for 50% more, regardless if it's this store's rrp or not.

    • yeap, I agree with you. This appears to be their normal weekly special deal. But this price is a way better than their competitors'.

      I've bought a outdoor setting from Segals (not this set. It's the weekly special at that time). Quite a few friends noticed it and it turned out they decided to buy their weekly special deals as well. Not even a single friend complained the quality and/or price.

      that's the one I bought at $899.(few year before)

      if you don't like the spider or glass table issue. give this set a look. the table is timber + marble and looks great. The chairs are not most comfy. But it's really sturdy and built to last.

  • Looks the exact same as one I got from Super A-Mart 4 or so years ago. Pretty sure that pricing is realistic. Apart from the glass being a pain to keep clean, those seats are impossible to keep clean, a spider haven underneath.

    • As others have commented above, Segals are often cheaper than elsewhere. So while this might sell at Super-A-Mart for around $1400, and $899 is therefore a great price, it's not really 'down from $1399' because Segals never actually sell it for that price.

    Hi all

    In answer to all your queries about the pricing:

    1. All original prices are the ones crossed out on the website (in this case $1,399). That was the actual price and we do not participate in fraudulent advertising.
    2. The sale started on Boxing Day and will run until we are out of stock.
    3. This is our regular seasonal sale to clear out last season's stock to make room for new stock.
    4. I posted it on this site until the end of March, but will take the post down if stock runs out earlier.
    5. Thanks for your great comments on value and quality. We take pride in the fact that (unlike most competitors) we have our own factories producing our product so the quality is closely monitored.

    I hope that helps clear up any confusion :-)

      I've been keeping my eye on an outdoor modular set since before Christmas (the Samaya). It was listed as $999 then, and it is listed as $999 now. Difference being, the $999 it was originally listed as wasn't listed as a sale price - it was its regular price. I never saw it listed at $1,399 - even though you're now listing it as $999, down from $1,399.

  • The reason why some of their sets seem fairly cheap is because the chairs are a bit small, especially the backrest. There will be a set that has the same table but the larger more comfortable chairs and they will be more the price you expect for them. Still a good price, but go and make sure these chairs are comfortable first. We went there due to their pricing and found we had to get the larger chairs but unfortunately in Perth it's one of the only places that have nice outdoor sets. We are happy with our purchase regardless.

    Had ours for a year, we are happy with it :D

  • Hi ViciousPotato

    The Samaya Modular regular price was never $999. We have sold this product at $1,399 since August 2015, until it was reduced to the sale price of $999. It has now been further reduced to $799.
