  • So happy I got this from Zavvi for $26 :D, great set. DOFP is in 3D too, they give you both versions.

    • I was also thinking about zavvi. how is your experience with Zavvi? specifically how long does it take to be delivered? I heard that Zavvi postage is horrible, sometimes items or box get damaged!

      • All my Zavvi delivered in mint condition. It takes about a 7-10 days to Sydney

        • thanks. how much do they charge for postage?

        • @DMS: about $2

        • @clarky: thanks

        • Hrm, for me it generally take 3 - 6 weeks to Perth. They sleeve pack each order separately, so if you order 4 Blurays/Dvds you will get 4 packages this is (in general) fine with the exception that the 'steel books' may get a ding in them where a normal plastic one won't show or hold such impact damage. Also my experience is that theses items will not arrive the same day (even if you get a shipping notice at the same time) and they can be weeks apart.

        • @Elijha: 3-6 weeks? I feel for you

  • 'Discount' is vat

  • Haven't seen any other than the first 2 movies. Wondering if I should catch up or if they were all stinkers.

Actually I think I saw something else with wolverine in it. Whatever it was, it was terrible.

    • I think they are all good action films except for the stand alone Wolverime films

    • +2

Consensus is that X3 and the first Wolverine were stinkers, the rest ranged from decent to great.

      • Hopefully, the new Deadpool movie will fix one of those mistakes.

        • Well, it'd be hard to do Deadpool any worse.

  • i hate how film franchises like these keep putting out new "complete" boxed sets every time a new film is released! a blatant milking of money from fans!

if only they would put out "expansions" each time a new film was released, so one could just add the latest films to the set, rather than having to re-buy the whole thing.

this could be achieved nicely by having an ever expanding spine image, and perhaps some sort of expandable or connectable box. or even sell a new cardboard box with each new film release, so people would only have to replace the outer cardboard box that houses the whole series.

if only studios cared about fans, and not just making money!

You can buy the movies individually.
New collection boxes with just the latest movie would take up a lot of shelf space.

      • some box sets include some extras like behind the scene or making, uncut versions, etc.

        • Some individual releases include extras not available in the box set.

        • @Max Power: True but Box sets are the ones usually comes with extras and souvenir. Box sets are also way more cheaper than individual ones I just experienced.

        • @DMS:
I don't disagree. I'm replying to a comment about being forced to buy a new box set when a new movie in the franchise is released.

so one could just add the latest films to the set, rather than having to re-buy the whole thing

        • @Max Power: totally agree.

      • +1

yes, obviously one can just buy the separate films. that is exactly what a normal person would do.

i'm talking from the perspective of a "fan", who wants to have the latest and greatest "complete" set (with all the artwork, special edition boxes, etc). the people for whom a series may have a special place in the heart, the die-hards. these people will buy the latest set, and will palm the old ones off to someone else less interested in the series (or sell it, for a bargain price given the new set, to re-coup some costs).

this doesn't apply to everyone (ie. normal people), and i never said it does. sorry you/someone felt the need to neg my comment, but each to their own.

        • I didn't neg your comment. You've just given reasonable solutions, so what was the point of your original "rant" (your word)?
You can buy the movies as they come out, or you can wait until the final box set. If you're impatient and a completionist, I sympathise.

        • @Max Power:

Well actually, my solution is that I just don't buy blu-rays / DVDs anymore. And that's not really the ideal solution for anyone.

It definitely was a rant, and I said it was. But it did have a point, which I have attempted to explain. You don't agree with it, which is fine. But that doesn't make my rant incorrect, just not relevant or applicable to you (just like what you think is a "reasonable solution" is not a reasonable solution to me). As I said, each to their own.

And yes, I definitely am a completionist. And I've been burnt by shows and movies coming back from the dead or getting new special editions/releases too many times, so patience doesn't really work for me either! I just think it's not a good way to reward loyal fans.

As I said, my solution is not to have a dvd/bluray collection anymore. Which is fine - I was just expressing my disappointment, and thinking/ranting aloud about what I would do if I was an artist or film creator (in another life, I was a wannabe musician, and these are the sorts of things I always thought about, as a wannabe artist and as a fan of music).

Anyway, my rant is my rant. If no one agrees, that's fine, each to their own! I'll just go back to collecting headphones, vinyl, kitchen knives, personal pet peeves and mental issues, etc. :)

  • Wait for the final episode: Apocalypse!
