greenie4242,
thanks for the info.
very true, we have been rip off here.
what is the thailand web site address?
depends which brand & what type of lenses (daily/fortnightly) u are after
these are the cheapest fortnightly Acuvue 2 @ $26 box
http://www.budgeteyeweardirect.com.au/productdisplay.html?sk…
and these ones are better Acuvue Oasys @ $31 box
http://www.contactconnection.com.au/index.php?route=item&id=…
I've ordered from both sites in the past and claimed from NIB without any issues
I can claim 50% of costs so works out to be $15 per box (not bad)
Here's a Singapore based site I ordered from a couple of years ago
Takes 2-3 weeks for the contacts to arrive, but with no Health cover this was the only option
http://www.aalens.com/home.asp
budgeteyeweardirect has good deal on postage
As ozblogger says, it seems to depend heavily on what type of lens you use. A search for my O2 Optix lenses found this mob are the cheapest in Oz right now:
http://www.quicklens.com.au
$24.02 per box as popposed to $26.95 or $32.95, or even more for some places (before rebate).
I just tried the website for the Thai company I've ordered from previously, but the website has shut down.
I believe that quicklens head office is in singapore, so can't get rebate from health fund.
i paid 32/box for J&J Oasis through getting an OPSM store to match an online price.
clearly contacts have J&J Oasis for $28 per box when you order 8 or more ($34 per box otherwise)
OPSM Express seemed to be the cheapest I could find, even with postage included. They were significantly cheaper than OPSM shops last time I ordered from them. When you purchase online you can enter your helth fund details and they will only charge you for the total cost minus the rebate.
I haven't used them in a couple of years though, as I've been buying my contact lenses from Thailand for about $12 a box. Even after my health fund rebate, buying contact lenses here was costing me about $30 a box, so it's cheaper for me to get them from overseas. They sell identical brands, just we get rorted here with price gouging like we do with DVDs and Bluray.
