Membership required for purchase should be included in title.

    • +2

Subjective - you can go in and shop with a friend :)

      • +5

And if you don't know someone with a membership you have to pay for that membership yourself.

        • +10

Wait outside of Costco and ask members if you can befriend them.

        • +8

Pay for membership, buy product, ask for refund of membership

        • +2

@maxmoustache: And you miss out on your lifetime no questions asked return policy (provided the screen is not broken or other visual signs of mishandling).

        • +1

          @smarter_fool:
Lifetime warranty don't apply to phones any more. The mobile centre is outsourced, so you only get standard warranty.

        • @smarter_fool:
Are you able to provide links to the no questions asked lifetime return policy please?

        • @kirynflare: Actually you are partly correct. First if you have an issue with phone and the phone is under warranty then the standard and other consumer guarantee applies. But if the phone is out of warranty the Costco can have a "look" at it (have spoken to their staff before I bought the phone last month). They don't advertise their return policy but give hints to it without specifying the duration Costco FAQs.

This was done so that people don't abuse the policy like they have done in the US. Source: I have a friend who works in administration.

If you are not convinced pick up the phone and call them up.

Edit: The return policy is only valid if you have continuous membership

  • Was that the only phone on special? Did they have any others?

why everywhere sell 64GB in Australia,I need 32GB and much cheaper as well

    • +2

Just buy straight from https://store.google.com/product/nexus_6p, although I'm not sure why you'd want less then 64gb for the same price…

You can never too much mobile storage these days.

    • 32GB has been $744 outright at Optus and Virgin since it was released. No plan or signup required.

      • The optus price is very good, but no SD slot on this beast, so you're better off to fork out the extra dollars for the 64gb version

    • +3

The 6P has an aluminum back

      • It's the top part near the camera that cracks by itself - http://www.geek.com/mobile/nexus-6p-has-a-serious-glass-crac…

        • And the sony Z series don't have a self cracking screen or back glass.

        • +1

I was sceptical but then I saw that the story was based on a couple of randoms posting on Reddit and now I'm convinced.

  • +8

Couldn't recommend the 6P more. I was Samsung Note loyal for many years but this phone moved me away. Awesome battery life, vanilla Android out of the box and more computing power than you can throw a stick at.

    • +3

Agreed, I am in love with this thing. The way they implemented the fingerprint scanner is exactly how I wanted it.

      • +1

I've been using my phone as a GPS for the last few hours, haven't charged it since about 11pm last night http://imgur.com/rxmcclY

        Love the fingerprint scanner too!

        • +5

That picture shows you have hardly used your GPS. Perhaps you were using your mapping app in the offline mode?

Agreed with the fingerprint scanner, it's freaking awesome!

Posted previously https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/227497. Don't know whether the original deal had actually expired

    • +3

The original coupon advertisement had an expiry date of 3rd January, so good to see that the price has continued on. I suspect the price is still the same at all stores.

Great phone, great price, and Costco has a great warranty.

      • True, unbeatable warranty

        • As I commented above, the mobile centre is outsourced, so only standard warranty.

  • That's a very good price.

  • do they allow trade in`s ?

    • yes

    • +3

      yeah trade your money in

  • Called Costco North Lakes to find out if they can price match it, but they can't as its not on the system. Should I go in store, or try price match with jb hi-fi?

    • +1

JB (and other) often don't price match Costco as you need to be a member (of Costco) to buy it.

I'd just goto Costco & see…or call again & you might get someone useful to check if it's in store.

    • +1

sometimes takes a day or two for the prices to be updated around the store. Try tomorrow.

  • The same deal is also available in Canberra Costco.

  • -3

Looks like a grey import or someone messed with the language.

    • Or Chinese is spoken by everyone according to 2 ^

  • No stock left at any of the melbourne stores unfortunately.

  • Is Costco membership even worth it??

    • +2

if your closest costco has a petrol station, then it is definitely yes, otherwise it's arguable…

    • Go during the week and have a look. They give you a free pass to wonder around and look at the prices etc, but you can't buy.

As for me, the savings is it worth it, it depends on how close your store is to you. Ours is 5 mins away, so I pop in for small things they sell, like bread/milk that are cheaper than the supermarket. Saving $2-3/wk on these items alone pays for it.

if you have one with fuel, the saving on fuel a year covers the membership.

The rest is all just cream. Plus costco carries items you don't normally get, some good and interesting foods in the freezer department!

      • umm…I am not a member and I went on a weekday to Casula branch but they refused entry. They said, I must have a membership to enter.

        • Did you go to the membership counter or just get bounced by the door bitch?

  • Unless you have a large family NO

    • +1

Rubbish. I'm a single guy living on my own and easily cover the cost of my membership.

      • Easily worth it even as an individual.

  • how much is membership ?

    • -1

      $60 for individuals
      $55 for ABN holders
      $0 for smart people

      • +1

'smart people' the ones who would pay more than this item + membership costs just to save signing up!? :/

      • -1

ok thats the most ripped off i have ever heard, thats to much for membership.

        • +100

          Agreed.

        • But $799 for phone and $60 for membership = $859. Its still cheaper than others places for the phone, is it not? Google wants $899 for it. So you're still in front and this way you get a whole year of not bitching that you're not a member of costco and can't get the 'deals'

          Same to you too @KaptnKaos

        • @Level380: ebay, or wait till price comes down more which it will soon.

        • @shadowrukia: and you think costco price won't follow it?

cheapest ebay is $840 for a overseas model, no local warranty. So for $19 extra, its worth it for that.

Local stock is $880….. so costco still cheaper!

        • @Level380: I dont live near one.

        • @shadowrukia: Then say that!

if you have someone with ABN number (that is needed for business membership), you can have two cards, as there is an option to have the second card and store reps are happy to assist with it, just tell that the second person lives/works at the same address (they wouldn't check it), as a result you have a membership for $27.50 per year, which is covered by the difference of 3-4 full tanks of petrol…

      • +1

You get two cards with individual memberships too…

        • pretty sure you need to show proof of ID when you get the 2nd card and has to reside at the same address

        • @supasaiyan: Yes, you need to show the ID, but I wasn't asked to prove my address (I have the same one though)… In my case firstly was applied a card for the person 1 (my flatmate) and filled the form for the person 2 (myself) and then I visited the store a few days later, just told them that there is an opened membership and I need that second card (I brought the first card (of the person 1) with me just in case). They just asked me to show the ID, which doesn't have an address in my case. That's it, the card was printed…

      • When we signed up they asked to see the drivers license of the two people to verify they lived at the same address.

This has also been the case for other family and friends too.

  • does anyone know VIC costco sell one?

    • moorabbin and ringwood both have the mobile bars now, guessing the city store will too, but haven't been there to see.

Seen this phone at both the moorabbin and ringwood stores, not sure if they are doing this price yet.

    • Got this early this month from the Melbourne city store. Had only 7 left and the deal was ending in a day. You could call them up and check. They only had the aluminium 64gb ones.

  • Friend of mine who works at Costco says they've run out, and to try calling up Costco Crossroads to see if you'll have better luck.

  • +1

I managed to price match this with jb hifi world square (including free Huawei talkband). I ONLY showed him the thumbnail photo without mentioning costco. Went to Sydney westfield jbhifi earlier got rejected when they heard costco.

    • nice work! any chance you could post up a pic of your receipt for other fellow members to use when bargaining with JB? will try to get the same deal tomorrow! cheers

  • you should have bought from mobil city when 15% ebay worldwide was on. Got myn for 660 32 gb.

    • this thread is about the 64GB version buddy! for those who missed out on the 15% ebay sale, this price is the cheapest for 64GB for local stock anywhere in Australia atm..

  • +1

Price at Crossroads (NSW) was marked at $890, and the salesperson said that the additional discount ended yesterday. Upon scanning, the price was still $800 and I bought it! Thanks OP.

    • Did they say how much longer the coupon would work?

      • It was marked at 890, but also scanned at $800. Not sure how much longer the deal will last
