Hi guys
I am thinking of doing a self driving tour of the Europe
I guess the route that I was thinking of was
London -> France -> Italy
Few questions about this plan:
Has anyone done this before?
Is it feasible in 2-3 weeksApproximate cost?
Is this a good idea?
Also, what kind of accommodation do you guys use in Europe? (airbnb / hostels)
I am looking for cheapish accmmodation but I would not want to share rooms with others (going with my wife)
Thank you for your help guys
I have done uk<->France when I lived there, and separately Italy.
The approach I liked was to get a self contained holiday rental for 5 days or a week in a central location and do day trips. That meant a long drive between bases, but then short trips. Things are pretty close together, so there is lots to see. Even so, France is a big place, so choose a reasonable itinerary. Also bear in mind I was touring the countryside, I could easily spend a few weeks in London/Paris/Rome each on their own, and a car would be a hassle in each of these cities - although I have driven in all three and the stories of crazy traffic are true, but you get used to it fast.
Check out cheznous.co.uk for a sample of holiday houses to rent if this is of interest.
It will be a great trip, and I am super jealous!
