Hi all,
Was looking at an ultrabook and found this on the Dell website. Not the latest processor but not a bad deal for a pretty good spec'd ultrabook? That's a saving of $1,953.00.

Starting Price $4,396.81 - yeah right.
What the **** is making this device $4000 to start with. It doesn't seem to be of any great speed… Unless you are paying through the roof for a business version with 3 years onsite…
Because the keyboard is back lit… duh! It's aimed at gamer
/sarcasm
Reminds me of the early-mid 90s. $4200 for a HP Omnibook (the 'Ultrabook' of that time) with a 386 CPU, 40MB hard disk and 2MB RAM.
Or for a ThinkPad 750C with 10.4" colour screen, 486 CPU, 4MB RAM and 170MB hard disk, Australian Personal Computer said that "$10,715 isn't an unreasonable amount to pay…"
That's $18,654 in today's dollars.
If you stick $10,457 price tag to it - savings would be $8013.19. Still wouldn't make it worth the remaining $2,443.81.
It should have been $1200 (down from $2400). Who are they kidding?
I'm not a tech expert and I know Dell's are overpriced, but at least you're paying ROUGHLY the same as similarly spec'd ultrabooks no??
Besides the specs not matching the asking price, it's not even the cheapest place to buy the laptop from in the first place!
Wait. What! Am I reading this right?? Cant I get a similar or a better spec'd Dell XPS13 with QHD display for a similar or a lower price????
Latitude's always have ridiculous "original prices" following which they cut the price in half.
I have had one, and it was a brick with ridiculously sized bezel.
This laptop is worth about half of its discounted price.
Price has been adjusted to the current fall of AUD
Good call. There's a fairly similar model (i5, 128GB SSD) currently available there for $839.
This one is hideously over-priced, even with that massive discount. The RRP of many Latitude models is utterly unwarranted.
This "price drop" is due to the new model being launched at CES with the current XPS13 build and screen , but with a lower end Core M processer ( not sure what they are smoking - using a core M for a business laptop where time is money and if it is slow , people may fling it off the roof even )
It's made for corporate use and they usually get it for around 1500-2000 because they buy them in bulk. I reckon they just set the price as 4k to make it look like they're giving companies generous discount lol. I've used this laptop at work. Would not recommend unless you need a smart card reader and a dock (E-port replicator). Spend your money in X1 Carbon, XPS 13 or HP Spectre X360.
Corporate computers are far more durable than consumer versions. It's designed for users who couldn't care less about stuff that isn't their property.
Dock is also very handy.
That is advertised price for an corporate computer yet enterprises never pay advertised price.
Seems expensive for a 14" with onboard graphics and only 8GB ram :/
It is expensive:
