Ahh I see. I never tried running them simultaneously it with my 64gb ram rig.

      • If you were running huge statistics packages that would be cool but tons of systems cant even fit more than 32 gig anyway unless they have a certain CPU and MOBO that can handle 8 sticks =P

I would say it would be split up between systems.

      • I'm looking at a build of either 64gig or 128gig for video post production work, so yes, some people do need that much ram.

        • I can't be stuffed looking it up. But youtube Linus tech tips he does a video on how much ram you really need when video processing.

  • If it rocks up, great.

    • What if it stones ?

"For any products marked as 'Pre-Order', 'Order-In' or out of stock, prices may change between when you place your order and when the actual product becomes available. Techbuy will try to absorb any price differences when possible, but if this is not economically possible will have to pass the price variation on."

Dont worry they will just "pass" on the price variation to buyers especially the guy who bought 10 of them =P

  • I never knew that obvious price errors were considered to be a deal.

I agree. What the hecks going on around here lately? Double standards for "well known" member posts, mods posting price errors as bargains…. comments getting deleted if they don't suit mods agenda.. crazy

AVOID TECHBUY - Horrible service and don't expect a refund anytime soon.

Bought an external enclosure from them which failed 2 minutes after operation. Horrible dealing with their non-existent support desk. After many weeks of follow up emails I got a refund. However, I now get emails every month or so asking me to pay for an outstanding debt equal to the value of the external enclosure!

    • Pay via Paypal, no issues with a refund then.

      • +1

Can't go wrong with pay after delivery.

      • Missing the point - I wanted the item, not a refund.

I asked for a replacement to be sent, they had none in stock. They didn't offer any replacements because they were 'too expensive' at about $20 more.

In the end I got my money back, but it was a real dick (smith) around.

  • What the hell….ordered :-)

  • +1

techbuy may post price errors as a form of advertisement to get people to visit their site. pretty cheap form of advertisement if you don't have to honour the orders.

i hope you guys get your orders :)

  • So will they ship this or they cancel all orders and refund us?

    • +2

No way they will ship this. This would be worth over a grand.

      • +1

And that's just for 1 set of RAM. Multiply that by the number of people who have commented/voted, and factor in Broden. Waste of money/time pursuing this.

  • +4

Do you really need to ask if it's a pricing error?. Of course it is.

  • +4

Price error. Not worth your time imo but each to their own.

  • Ordered!!

  • I've ordered one anyway, let's see how it goes …

  • Does Austrlaian Consumer Law cover anything about pricing errors? All I could find was the 'multiple pricing' section, where retailers are liable to offer consumers the cheapest price if multiple prices are quoted for a given item.

    • +1
      • +1

And for anybody who is lazy to read from start, here is the relevant section:

        Wrong price

Where all units of the same item have been priced incorrectly or are scanning incorrectly at the register, the seller does not have an obligation to honour that price. In these circumstances, the seller is within its rights to correct the error at the register by offering you the item at the correct price (provided this is done before your payment is accepted).

A seller can’t attempt to correct the error or claw back any money after they have processed your sale and accepted payment, as the transaction (and the contract) is deemed complete at this point.

        — Isn't this already processed by paypal? Therefore that transaction can't be clawed back? Can anyone clarify this point?

    • lol accc again

    • +4

don't be silly, price errors happen all the time and the retailer always has the right to refuse sale.

      • -4

Oh what?!? Time for class action lawsuits gentlemen, spewing!! Drafting a letter to the accc as we speak =p

      • Yeah, I thought this was pretty obvious too.
Imagine walking into a car dealership and buying a tesla for $20,000 instead of $200,000.

  • whelp gotta be in it to win it

  • -1

What happens they just send out an 8gb only? We all stuff!

    • +1

paypal dispute. item not as described.

      • LOL and you end up with a refund anyway. Plus you have to ship it back and so on… Not worth it, this was like the $1 iPhone 6 price error - don't bother people!

    • yep reciept says 128gb

  • +1

    Anyone noticed this?
"For any products marked as 'Pre-Order', 'Order-In' or out of stock, prices may change between when you place your order and when the actual product becomes available. • -1

And will paypal allow this… nope.

    • Meh, paypal.

    • Yep that person who ordered 10 units is screwed.

    • Yes, that is the same with most businesses, due to the fluctuating market. But, this item is in stock….

      • No it's not in stock. It's in Order In status which means that it's not in stock at Techbuy and needs to be ordered in (from a supplier).

        Part Number:397487
        Usually Ships:Order In More info

Order-In - This product is not carried in stock and will need to be 'ordered-in' for you

So basically in the first place Techbuy doesn't even have this product.

        • Well, imagine the shitstorm if they force buyers to make up the difference…

    • Price Variation wouldn't mean sorry from $90 it now costs $900 dollars, thats a form of baiting.

  • +1

Thanks OP Purchased 2 sets, paid via paypal. If they honor im building a nice rig!!!

    • with 2 sets you can build more than just one Nice rig, LOL

  • No problem…they'll ship these in 2022 when that's a fair price

  • +2

I expect to see people start to ask, since I have 128G memory, what kind of CPU and motherboard shall I buy?

    • skyleak cpu + z170 chip-set motherboard

      • Skylake only has a dual channel memory controller. This is a quad channel kit with 8 modules. A Haswell-E CPU on x99 mainboard will work.

  • -3

I bet all that's happened on these Order-In orders is just a Paypal authorisation hold which enables the merchant to modify the price before they accept and finalise the order after the price is confirmed through the supplier and so it captures a payment and goes through at their modified price. In that case you haven't actually been charged yet.

"Authorization & Capture is for merchants who have a delayed order fulfillment process and who typically make a $1 USD authorization at checkout. It enables merchants to modify the original authorization amount due to order changes (such as taxes, shipping, or item availability) that occur after the buyers place the initial order."

    https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/paypal-payments-st…

So you people ordering multiple units are going to get totally screwed when you suddenly get charged the full corrected price. That would be the worst case scenario.

    • Nope the full amount is showing in my Paypal account and I have a receipt showing the same amount and description in my email.

    • +1

Not an authorisation, full payment sent. Notice the difference between the Ordered products price and the full receipted price from Paypal which includes shipping of $19.90

You sent a payment of $946.40 AUD to Techbuy Pty Ltd ([email protected])

      Description Unit price Qty Amount
Products ordered from techbuy.com.au for $926.50, shipping will be calculated when returning to TechBuy. $946.40 AUD 10 $946.40 AUD
      Subtotal $946.40 AUD
      Total $946.40 AUD
      Payment $946.40 AUD
      Payment sent to [email protected]

Also, please note that the item showed in stock, presumably until they ran out of stock. Seeing as they use Ingram Micro as a supplier, Ingram Micro offer real-time stock levels allowing it to revert to order in based on current supplier levels.

Obviously my personal info is removed from the email.

      End of argument here <——-

      • $946.40? So this is not a pricing error but a web page display problem?

        • -1

          I bought 10

      • Wow the real price must be $946.40 and you got charged full price. I do hope you can cancel the order before it gets to a shipping stage.

Wow the real price must be $946.40 and you got charged full price.

Proves your ability to read is amazing ;)

          Refer to my above comment

"I do hope you can cancel the order before it gets to a shipping stage."

Yeah, totally, because 10 x 128GB DDR4 ram at that price is ludacris.

        • Sorry typo, real price must be $926.50.

They've forgotten to put a 0 at the end in the web price and got the dicimal point in the wrong place

        • @hollykryten:

Did you even notice that the original price on the deal was $102.55?

It lowered in price mins later.

        • @mapleice:

Yes to $92.65. They tried to correct the displayed price but still failed at it.

        • @hollykryten:

Replacing a mistake with another mistake is highly unlikely, unless they are celebrating an employees birthday with loads of alcohol.

I ordered 100 to sell on Gumtree.
    I'm gonna be rich.

    • +1

LOL, can i have 10% of your total income then?

    • You're going to totally cry when they try to charge you about $100,000.

    • +1

And if the price error was going to be honored, it is this that ruins it

      • +1

I'm sure this will never be honoured, it's like giving away iPhone 6's for a gold coin.

  • Ordered…In vain

    • Then why bother wasting yours and the retailers time?.

      • Rookie error…

  • So paypal allows them to take money out without our authorizations?

    • -2

There is such a thing as a Paypal authorisation hold which the price can be modified by the merchant before they accept it. Not saying for sure that Techbuy is doing it but it's a possibility. Every time i paid through stuff at Masters online it's been through a Paypal authorisation hold.

    • No, also to explain what @hollykryten mentioned, there are two types of Paypal payments: 1. Sent payment 2. Authorised payment. The merchant chooses their way of accepting payment.
In this case it's 1, because the Paypal receipt shows "You sent a payment of $102.55 AUD to Techbuy Pty Ltd".
In some cases you'd see "You authorised a payment of $xxx AUD to xxx Ltd", in that case it's an authorisation.

In both cases though, they can't charge you more than what you have agreed to pay.

  • What happens if they just the the differences out of our account? Then we all
    Stuffed

    • You'd think or at least hope they'd contact you before trying to charge the extra amount. Pretty shoddy if they just charge it on without contacting you.

  • Ordered a set. Maybe like the bupa deal we will get a voucher or discounts code if its not honoured.

  • Well expect a lot of cancellation and refund emails some time tomorrow or maybe in a week or two depending on how slow Techbuy is when it comes to refunds.

  • I think its going to be like this

over 2,000 clicks, do people actually think they'll honour this deal? must be a bunch of rookies here.

      More like no-brainers.

    • click != "I think they'll honor this deal"

    • Click doesn't mean purchase.
