The quality might not be the best at times since certain scenes are just upconverted DVDs since they cant find the original film, but plenty of it looks brilliant. Screens from the first episode comparing dvd and bluray-

Besides theres a huge amount of extras. 23 hours worth or something. Would be good if you wanted to get ready for the new series or something. I wouldnt mind grabbing it myself since I missed possibly seasons worth while it was on tv because of my high school days. But thats for future me when I find a new job to pay for it.

My understanding is that its just like anything similar.
They aren't upscaled from DVD.
Footage using certain special effects and other graphics are lower resolution as is normal for that time.
You will still get better quality then DVD due to the huge amount of dvd compression that you can see when something is converted to that format.
But as you can see most of the show looks like proper bluray quality. I'm rewatching it on bluray myself at the moment.
I think you misunderstood what samfisher5986 meant - he's saying don't buy the DVDs when the blu-rays are so much better.
Oh you're right. I read that at like 5am. I guess my brain was more useless then usual.
New series permiers Jan 24
Set your VCRs to record!!
On Ten, I still remember the original series being on channel 10. lol
I WANT TO BELIEVE
It must have been removed from sale. I don't see it any where on the online store. Only the old DVD release shows at $15.98.
I've been watching The X-Files on Presto. The quality is pretty good, definitely HD quality. Mind you, I'm watching via my Samsung TV's native Presto app.
If you have good enough broadband at home, grab the free 3-months code and give it a go.
I still have my original Digipak DVDs, some still unsealed when they used to be $180…
OP please put DVD or BluRay in the title.
It's on Netflix but not sure what region(s) I saw it on. I remember watching it live on tv and recording every episode while pausing for the ads. The discussions at work the next day…. Ah good times.
I can confirm it's on US Netflix
I don't think this is worth is considering the quality of the bluray remaster.
You will miss out on a lot of detail on these DVDs.
