EB Games Summer Sale Preowned BOGOF

46

Hi all,

Received an email from EB Games saying their summer sale has kicked off. There are a few good picks in there that make this deal not too bad.
I believe all titles are pre-owned.

Yes, I realise most of their prices are still pretty crappy but there are a few good buys in there and I have listed a few.

Remember its buy one get one free but I'm listing individual prices here so potentially halve these.
Some games include:
Bayonetta (Wii U) $30 ($15 after)
The Evil Within (PS4, XB1) $42 ($21 after)
Disney Infinity figurines - Iron man, Thor, etc $4 ($2 after)
Far Cry 4 (PS4, XB1) $48 ($24 after)
The Walking Dead GOTY edition (XB1) $38 ($19 after)
The elder scrolls online (PS4, XB1) $58 ($29 after)
Payday 2 (PS4, XB1) $68 ($34 after)
FF Type-0 (PS4, XB1) $42 ($21 after)
Lords of the Fallen (PS4, XB1) $48 ($24 after)
Final Fantasy Theatrythm (3DS) $48 ($24 after)
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (PS3) $32 ($16 after)
Shadow Warrior (PS4) $32 ($16 after)
Bloodborne (PS4) $68 ($34 after)
Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition $57 ($28.50 after)

and loads more.

Used games? Nahh, not a deal. Horribly overpriced.

    Not a good move EB.

Beware of heavy markups up to 200%. Obvious example, The Golf Club PS4 brand new is $47, preowned was $38 now its $68 (I know because I got the game recently)

EB Used games is what their new game price should be at.

No deal, lots of these prices are inflated well over 'new prices', even worse they bring this sale on while they still have their Boxing Day sale deals up. NBA 2k14 is $8 (granted only 4 stores have stock) while pre owned it's $18

sometimes their new prices r less than their preowned its just their slack pricing.
btw eb give u a 20percent trade in bonus towards preowned games at the moment

      • agreed. Horrendous pricing.

    beware beware
eb games 'new' games are often returned games from previous buyers that looked scratch free.
they may be missing inserts, dlc or have some marks.
always ask for a sealed game.

their returns policy is good if u wanna return but not so good if you want a virgin game

    • They never have sealed games whenever I go it's always opened and carded in their library draws behind their counter :(

inFamous: Second Son alone was $18 now $48 with BOGOF

    • I know, I didn't say every game would be a good price but I went through it and sorted a few which I thought were alright games for the prices offered.

  • All these preowned games were marked up 200% (their price were normal before this sale began) and then listed as BOGOF. That said, you'll still save maybe $2-3 if buy it this way. But for me it's no deal. DICK MOVE EBGAMES !!!

  • They've basically doubled the prices lol

  • Thanks to OzBargain I've now got a huge library of games and I'm always on the prowl to add to my collection. I went into EB yesterday and saw the promo and I didn't see very many 'deals' (I own PS4 and ONE). Some examples like Far Cry 4, Lords of the Fallen, Sleeping Dogs have been and still are cheaper brand new. Lords of the Fallen was $24 new at Big W (I think it still is), Sleeping Dogs was $19/$24 new and Far Cry 4 is $24 new. Some games you might have to shop around for which is the downside.

I suppose if you need the games today, be able to buy them from a central location and are happy with second hand copies - this is an 'okay' deal if you want to buy more than one game. Otherwise bargains are to be had elsewhere for the patient in my opinion.

Buying used games has the same effect on the industry as piracy does. Every time a used game is sold, a publisher/developer gets screwed out of being paid for their work.

I actually think piracy is a bit more honest.

    • being a middle man yourself, you'd of thought you'd feel different

There's a difference though. If you buy something from the manufacturer, and then on sell it, the manufacturer gets their cut.

In the case of games, everything that EB games sells new, the developer gets a cut of. Every second hand game they sell is a copy of the game that the developer will receive no income from.

Selling second hand games is legal, no doubt but companies like EB Games have a lot of unethical practices, not the least of which are their human resources policies. They constantly push for you to trade in games and make a massive mark up on those games. It's pretty much the foundation of their business model. That doesn't really make sense to me as they are being detrimental to the industry that they are relying on for their living.

Doesn't matter though, Steam and similar services will kill them off like Netflix has done for video stores.

My commentary of piracy being a bit more honest just means that if the developer is going to be stiffed for their cut of the sale price, at least you know and are aware of it when pirating a game :-)

    • I must have hit a nerve here somewhere

  • How come this post isn't showing up in the Gaming category? the newest deal is "Until Dawn for PS4 $28 at Harvey Norman"
