Laura Ashley Collapses into Voluntary Administration (Tis The Season!)

Just saw this as a related article on a Dick Smith news item. I guess some good deals on home furnishings might be on the cards?

    ive never heard of it

    • Apparently they're in pretty much every Westfield, and they've had a few deals on OzB in the past.

They aim for the upper middle class, upper middle aged, upper overweight female - plenty of them in most Westfields…

Hi to my ex-wife, one of her favourite stores :)

      • my wife as well. like that country living feel.

It seems the only characteristics i have in that list is "overweight… class" :P

        • Congrats on earning your Classy badge :+)

I can't possibly comment on whether you would find the purchase and use of a Laura Ashley product slimming… lol

  • I've never heard of this joint before.

  • They sell good linen. Clothes aren't very nice. There's a factory outlet and Birkenhead point.

  • Are they honoring the Laura Ashley Gift Cards or are they going to be like Dick Smith?

    • Its fairly standard for any business that goes into administration to not honor gift cards

      • I'm fairly sure now that the "Gift" in Gift Cards is that one is making to the Business, not the acquisition of a redeemable card.

  • Guess what ? They are having a sale. Up to 70% they say.

    • They seem to have that sale pretty often. I walk past one on the way to work.

  • I like Laura Ashley but they always seem over priced for what they offer and certainly their "look" has a limited market - think english countryside manor deco. Their fabrics are beautiful. Their clothing range is too "mature" for my taste.

I'm nervous to buy from their online website for risk of losing my money. I hope there are some bargains in-store though.

    Really lovely Quilt covers

  • friend put in a $600 deposit there just before christmas to order in a gift for her son's new home… is there any way of getting this back?

    • Nope

      • I'm thinking retailers are gonna have to come up with something better than this. Maybe like the way hotels operate for their deposits.
