Air New Zealand currently has some great prices flights to the U.S.

West Coast flights are advertised on the site but New York is also a great price at ~$1400 return ex Melbourne.

This price was for flights departing end of September and returning mid October. YMMV

    It sucks, I guess we had a good run over the last 8 years or so (excluding the GFC where it hit like 0.62:1), but historically I think it has averaged to somewhere between 70 and 80c per USD.

    Hopefully it picks up a bit.. I could probably live with $0.80 USD per AUD but in the 60-70c range it does make everything in the US pretty expensive :(

    Maybe I'll go to Canada instead, that's still about 1 to 1 :)

  Yes, is painful, it was a great party whilst it lasted. Sadly, it went even lower years ago. So, either go asap, or put it for for another 10 years or whatever the crystal ball says.
