Popular Science EDITED NOT Mechanics is truly one of the great science and technology magazines out there. As a kid, I used to read these in our school library at lunch (Yes I was a geek). They have made available all of their old issues up until late 2009.

Been using that website, although the interface isn't really that good - only can search for articles & not by issues (only way to do so is directly via Google Books)
