Returning Heattech Top to Uniqlo

So I bought a Heattech thermo top from Uniqlo. Got home and realised my sister had some so I wanted to return it but was told it was classed as "underwear" and was therefore unable to get a refund. The top is also in a sealed package so I obviously haven't worn it. I thought this was a bit strange because 1. I've never seen tops classed as underwear, and 2. refusal to return underwear would usually be for hygienic reasons which is far enough but the top is in a sealed bag.

Is this normal? Any suggestions on courses of actions to get a refund? The policy seems a bit silly in my opinion.

they should tell you before you pay that it won't be returnable. That's what i've noticed when i've bought stuff that came in the packets (even kids PJs), so i don't think you'll get a refund

  • Why would you want your sister's one? Just wear what you bought. Problem solved.

    • Was just in Europe for a few weeks. Don't wear thermals in Aus.

      • You obviously don't come from Melbourne then.

        • Haha, actually I am.

        • @taniiah: We turn down the heating and wear the thermals inside and have blankets.

        • @try2bhelpful: My house doesn't have central heating and I rarely use the heater. Uses too much energy. Just more of a winter person and stay rugged up in bed. :)

  • From my own experience, whenever you buy anything that is in one of those plastic packs (undies, heattech, airism, etc), the cashier will let you know that it is not returnable. It is one of those rules unique to uniqlo unfortunately. It is not possible to get a refund for that.

  • We've purchased their airism and heattech products, and they always tell us those are non-returnable items. They're useful anyway and you can do with an extra, so just keep it and wear it!

  • How do they know if it has been opened if you fold it back properly?
Recently bought the ULTRA WARM top. It wasn’t in a seal bag.
