Lots of apps changed from paid app to in app purchase.

Well they better make it free if they do that. A paid app that also does in app purchase is usually full of nasty surprises from experience. And one $40 (usually $50) app I bought only allows the required data to be downloaded on 2 devices - nothing mentioned in the Google Play description. I hammered them on the rating as it was also a buggy app and after being rude to me I emailed back which began a more reasonable exchange…but then days later they asked me to consider revising the rating and review where i warned people about the 2 device limit. Nup, no way. Fix your app, be honest about your conditions THEN I change my review.

What app costs $50 to buy??

        • ynab

@yoba: YNAB is also very very American. (Splitting things up by month? Really? Ever hear of fortnights?)

But don't fret too much. I bought using Telstra prepaid credit. Cost me $1 for $30 via prepaid starter kit and I got $50 credit off Telstra when they messed me around as well.

        • @Mic Cullen:
Fun fact: Fortnights are not a thing in American calendars.
Apparently, they really only encounter it when they travel overseas.

        • @Magpye: Yeah, I know, it's kinda weird. But I've asked them a couple of times how the rest of the world is supposed to make the software work when they DON'T run on a monthly pay cycle, and they just don't care.

        • @Mic Cullen: I've been using it for a while with fortnightly paychecks without any issues really. You just check your previous month expenses for a category and then budget half of it for next fortnight of new month.

  • Strange you can't customise the frequency of expenses only stuck with monthly

Ha, a budgeting app with in app purchases. Pass.

      Good point.

    • The in-app purchase is actually just to upgrade to Premium (which you will get for free with the promo code). There are no other in-app purchases that I can see. If you don't believe me, you can download it (for free) and check yourself.

Downloaded and installed. Seems ok but i still cant get passed my simple google sheets spreadsheet i created like 8 years ago. Synced across all devices, hard to beat. Tried most budgeting apps but keep going back

  • A simple spreadsheet is the budgeting 'app' ever.

  • Promo code expired

  • Doesn't work for me either, "Your promo code is invalid".

  • Mine just worked.
