We use the phone like a remote, and have one near where we are. (the older phones it was actually bad leaving them on the base also, so it has carried over from that also)
I realise a lot of people don't do this, but the warning is still there for those who do.

I think it is cheaper to get two of those packages then getting one extra handsets.

Had one of these for 2 years. Good phone except it sometimes has problems with coverage at the extremes of our split level home. Love the "Do Not Disturb" button. Answering machine works well. Also good with a corded headset with a 3.5mm plug.
Do you know if you can transfer between handsets while on a call or if two handsets can be connected at a time so 2 ppl can talk/listen on the one call?
Yes, call can be transferred if you set the privacy on. If the privacy is off, you can have conference call (multiple handsets talking together).
Thanks mate. You wouldn't happen to know where the online manual is? It seems that Uniden only keep a small number of their products online… its not even in their discontinued product list..
I'm picking mine up tomorrow - they ordered them in for me and said i can get it at the discounted price..

I'm fairly sure there has been a supplier price drop on these, Good Guys had them for $97 a few weeks back.
I got another one of these for the extra handset off Ebay a few months ago. Great phone - we've had ours for a few years now as well. The extra handset that I got off Ebay actually came as a waterproof, drop resistant model - terrific for on the tiles downstairs, and outside. Photo on the box even had a guy talking on his in the shower (from the waist up, before anybody comments!).
Now we have a spare base unit, and backup phone for when the other one packs it in.
Great Price, we got one a few years back for nearly 3 times that amount!
Just a warning though, the battery life is horrible, a few days in a low use situation. Else it is a great phone.
