Where to Park Car When Travelling around?

Let's say you live in Sydney, but would like to go to Perth.

You choose to drive, because driving is fun. Where would you park your car while you rest and hang out etc.? Where would you park it once you reach some backpackers etc.?

Taking a car seems to be a hassle… but good. Pleasurable, but painful.

  • Stating the obvious, why not choose somewhere with a carpark. Would imagine most places would have somewhere for you to park. Or if not, go for a motor inn.

  • Standard homework when you research accommodation, whether they have parking for you if you choose to arrive by car. And the question for some places is: why drive?

    • When I travel, I'm a spontaneous type that doesn't do planning. I just rock up and enjoy whatever happens. This is fine when you don't have much to lose… but when you have a car, then things are a bit more complicated.

WHy drive? Because I have a car now :D

      • Some places it's more worth your while to park the car and take transport.

  • +1

You might find that the rest of Australia is quite different to Sydney, when it comes to parking your car.

      • No, it's not. Well it is if you're there the whole day, but otherwise it's easy to find carparks within the cbd and walking distance to the main malls for like $2/hr. (And whole day rates under $15)

        • @Cheap Charlie:

          Book a Bay @ Wilson Parking :)

On the other hand, when we went to Brisbane (for a day), I remember driving into 1 carpark in the CBD and it was like $10 or $15 for the first hour! I was like Speed Racer heading for the exit! (Don't pay if you leave within like 10mins)
