I second this. Been using D9 for 8 months. No dropouts ever and solid range. Plethora of features. Only thing to note is that it does not support one of the NBN network types (not sure about the exact thing).
Thanks .. I'll have a look at D9 then.. price isn't an issue as long as internet connection is stable and everyone in the house is happy…. it's like the end of the world when connections drop off in the household
my vote goes to D9 too.. good value for the price.. officeworks price beat MSY.. remember to upgrade the firmware before you setup.
is there something wrong with the firmware? just asking
There's a pretty big improvement from the older firmware to a newer one. Particularly with the User interface.
Changelog
New Features/Enhancement:
1.With a new User-Interface, the modem router's funciton and style enhances.
Bugs Fixed
1.Fixed The bug that printers can't be shown in the UI after being recognized.
2.Fixed The bug that LED of USB didn't flash after being recognized.
3.Fixed The bug that address reservation is missed.
4.Fixed The bug that error message isn't correct when the item number of parental control's configuration reached the max value and the description has exited.
Nope, updated firmware comes with new and better GUI (interface).
ASUS RT-AC68U or similar ASUS
You can get excellent RMerlin firmware for it (tweaked ASUS firmware) rather rely on manufacturer only
tplink kill asus in many areas
custom firmwares are all good for power users
tried both asus and tplink
much happier with tplink in my eyes even if the firmware is more limited
Thanks for the heads up… Im not sure im tech savy enough to tweak softwares by myself
I'd recommend the Netgear R8000 Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-band Gigabit Wireless "Router", It's the BOMB. I have a small network (12ish devices connected concurrently at any given point in time ) and it works like a charm. Please note this is a router ONLY but I guess you could use your current modem/router as a modem. Also, are you ADSL 2 + or the NBNss?
ADSL 2+/… wont see NBN till 2019 :(
cool, yeah R8000 will work like a charm
just wondering if D9 support openvpn like ac68u? Thanks
TPLINK archer D9
best ac router ive spent money on
if you cant afford it go for its little sibling the archer D7
im sure the D9 i have does adsl modem stuff as well so its a good all in one solution with usb hdd support and streaming
can also do usb 4g / 3g support too
