Thumbs up, but nothing worth getting - For me.

  • +25

    Age of Empires Online $9

Waste of money as it can't be played.

Servers were shut down July 1st 2014.

    • +5

So devostating, seriously AOE 1-3 and AOM were the best PC games ever, and when they finally released a new one (AOEO) nobody played it. :(

      • +1

AOE 2 is my fav. Played it on game ranger fews years back.

        • +5

Can still play that on Steam now, they released the remastered version. If you do not have it I highly recommend it :D

        • +2

Cossacks is my favourite RTS. AoE was good for quick LAN matches, but Cossacks was were the fun was at for proper nation vs. nation battles

Currently $6US on Steam for the whole set (except one). I would avoid Cossacks 2 completely.
          http://store.steampowered.com/sub/11264/

HOWEVER, with that said they are remaking Cossacks 1 as Cossacks 3
          http://www.cossacks3.com/

        • @CyberGenesys: I remember Cossacks, was a great game too.

        • AOE3 and Age of Mythology were my favourites, just so much depth to the game.
I have played the remastered aoe2 though and it's really good.

Also got civ5 for free on Mac on Ozb a couple months back but it's still no RTS…

        • @CyberGenesys: do people still play it? Like how's the multiplayer?

        • @djthornton: For online play? Probably non-existent anymore. Getting LAN going is a bit of a pain too. Best to wait for Cossacks 3 for online multiplayer as it will/should increase the player base and actually work.

        • There's an Age of Mythology expansion in the works at the moment, so we might not have to wait too long to get some more RTS kicks.

      • I played AOEO when it was on steam and paid for some of the packs, Just alittle cartoony but was a great game.

      • +1

For very good reason, it wasn't a proper AoE.. nothing like the previous ones.

      • I played it but you had to pay extra for skirmish mode which I imagine is what virtually everyone playing wanted. It wasn't very straightforward to find that skirmish mode still existed either since the game was very much built around doing quests to upgrade a main town. I found it very fun game but not sure why they made it online only since I did the missions by myself and enjoyed it enough to buy the complete DLC pack on Steam. Sucks there's absolutely no way to play it online or offline now though.

    • thanks removed

Harvey Norman has reduced many PC games today, here is a list:

BTW, I compared the prices here to those a week ago when the game deal was posted and the prices are all exactly the same so not sure why you think there were reductions today.

The only difference from a week ago is that now there is 1 extra game included (Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare - PC). Great price too :)

        • +1

Oh I saw that COD was 'reduced' from a price tracking site, so I assumed all of them were reduced. my bad.

        • @lyl: which site do you refer to?

        • @lyl: If you referred the price from price hipster, why don't you refer the website in the OP??

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:

I swear I saw a guideline somewhere that didn't allow it.

EDIT: Jokes just found the link, guess its allowed. I'm not sure where I was reading.

    • AOE2 was great BUT I love aom TITANS,RECENTLY reinstalled from steam a few month ago. =)

  • +6

Someone can correct me if wrong, but I'm pretty certain Age of Empires Online will no longer work so if anyone is thinking of buying - don't.

    • It will 100% DOA but cant return.

  • COD AW any good?

    • +2

It's one of the better COD campaigns. It has Kevin Spacey which was cool. Best COD since COD4:MW IMO.

      • -1

        "It has Kevin Spacey"

Exactly what they wanted people to say to get you to buy yet another one of their generic copy and paste games.

        • +2

What a whiney comment from someone who has clearly not even played the game. If you haven't played don't comment

        • +1

@taylorn8r: a more constructive post would have told people about the game's good points. It's really nothing new compared to the last seven years or so. Oh, I forgot, you can run up walls.

        • +3

lol you're preaching to the choir mate, IMO every COD has been terrible since COD4 (modern warfare) but this one was a nice surprise, partly because of yes, Kevin Spacey. Would I pay money $60 for it? Nope. This is a good price. (p.s. I played my friends copy for free)

        • @Hoolio:

I have to agree, CoD4 was the peak of CoD. CoD5 was a WW2 clone, so it was up there, BLOPS delivered the goods with dedicated servers after MW2 failed, and now BLOPS3 is decent imo.I would totally trade it for a populated CoD4 though, or even CoD5 or BLOPS1.

    • I really enjoyed the single player campaign. I think at this price you'll definitely get your moneys worth + if you play online then even more so.

  • I think it's still $6 for delivery PER item, instead of the flat per order previously.

  • Would be interested, but delivery kills the deal - cheaper via the Steam sale

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got Heart of Swarm. But delivery kills! 2/3 of the game cost

  • +1

steam, GMG and GOG trump this ;)

  • Just got the games to be picked up, might be a glitch but got saints row 4, AC Revelations and SC HOTS for 17! cheers OP

  • +2

I really hate to be negative about this deal, but compared to digital deals that are constantly floating around - these prices are nothing special. Maybe the COD games if you're desperate for their campaigns, but if you have half a brain you probably already realise that they're some of the worst campaigns ever made. But activision knows that most of the world only has half a brain so maybe buy that 'bro'!

    • +1

      CoD4 had an epic campaign.

      • +2

You got me there. COD4 was awesome.

        • I'm glad you don't disagree, I would be sad. I can't believe how long it's been since then!

  • +3

Lol, "Thief, $39". Pretty sure I got that on steam for like $5 in 2014

    • +1

I just got thief from xbox gold for free (one of their free monthly games)

  • +2

Don't get why this got so many upvotes. Unless you're a diehard physical game collector, there's no point in buying these since the prices are terrible and for a lot of them you'll have to pay even more for missing DLC.

  • Probably worth noting their Xbox and PS4 game lists as well as there are similar deals there… didn't see anything too inspiring although I suppose Forza Horizon 2 and Far Cry 4 on the Xbox look reasonable at $24 each if you don't already have them.

  • It'd be good if postage wasn't so expensive… Not sure how they can charge $6 for a DVD sized item, when places such as JB can ship for 99 cents…

  • +13

Most of these games are not the cheapest available. For example:

    World of Warcraft $6.23
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Expansion $13.73
    Battlefield Hardline $19.99
    Mortal Kombat X $14.95
    Thief $10.26
    Grand Theft Auto 5 $46.49
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt $38.33
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege $62.59
    Just Cause 3 $45.49
    Star Wars: Battlefront $61.60
    Fallout 4 $61.60
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 $43.95

If you don't live near a Harvey Norman store it's even worse because they have a $5.95 shipping fee per game.

      Is your reading Steiner working?

    • I guess your not the real kurisu

  • +3

beware harvey norman stock levels are very dodgy.
if it looks like its a low stocked item you will likely get an email weeks later saying oh we have no stock.
call store first as hardly normal usually disapoints

  • Great price on FAR CRY 4. Better than steams current 60% off price. Might be time to fire up the car and hope it is in stock.

  • I want to buy Starcraft heart of swarm, but just wondering if you have to have a cd reader or does it come with a code?

    • I'm 99% sure you can enter the code into your battle.net account and download from there

      • haha i'm scared of that 1 percent, which means i have to head out and buy one

        • +2

100% sure you can download it.
Depending on the date of release of the media, out of date chunk would be redownloaded again anyway.

  • I can only play Street Fighter 2.
    Help me Now.

  • +2

Not sure about whats normal but Harvey Norman's process is rather slow.

Bought the game on Sunday, said there's stock at my local store but I'm yet to receive any email that my order is ready…

I might have to call them tomorrow, surely it can't take that long just to tell me the stock is ready for pickup…..

  • I placed my order on the 25th, still haven't received a status update. Sent an email for the order got told the store "franchisee will contact you within 24hrs" never received contact at all, I called and left the callback option since there was a queue and they said they'd call back when I was at the top, never received a callback, finally got onto the live chat and the staff member who helped (which I don't blame them I work in retail and you can only give as much information as the inventory managers give you) wasn't able to provide any further information apart from that when stock arrives I'll get an update and there was no ETA for stock arrival. If I find a better price on the games I ordered I'm just gonna cancel my order on HN lol

I hate to be that kind of person who lets 1 bad experience tarnish an entire company's image but I expect a multi-million $ company like HN to have their crap together to a point that getting 2 video games from their Richmond store all the way to their Chadstone store/area or anywhere in Australia wouldn't take more than 1 week (I was lenient with the Christmas week but it has been over 2 weeks technically) but this is ridiculous, definitely not going to bother with their online ordering ever again. Although this could be a trick from Gerry to get more people to use in store and it looks like it's working.
