Where to stream soccer?

My Dad has a Foxtel subscription mainly so he can watch soccer which apparently later this year will no longer be showing some of the soccer matches (I don't really know all the details). He's willing to pay for a subscription to watch it streamed online but doesn't have access to a VPN. So what legal options does he have? Thanks for suggestions
(He likes cricket and tennis as well)

The English Premier League (most likely what he watches) will go until around May 2016. Optus have bought the rights to it so it probably wont be on Foxtel any more after May. Problem is, we don't know who is going to show the EPL because Optus don't really have a TV service - I mean they do have Fetch TV but that runs over the internet with live streaming. My experience with live streaming is that it isnt good at all - most of the matches i used to watch from www.beinsportsconnect.com.au used to always pause mid-game, lag, etc. It was just frustrating. I have NBN and used several different computers and i still had problems. I was paying $17 a month. So legally, I have no real answers for you. Just thought id explain the situation better. Give it a few months and Optus will announce something.

    • Thats helpful - thanks. You're right, there must be quite a few people in the same position.

    • I'm not sure you can judge "live streaming" just on one provider. Premier League Pass - which owns the EPL rights in NZ - is very good and very rarely lags or pauses.

Just can't see foxtel not having any channel showing EPL games.

I reckon we'll most likely see an 'Optus Sports' channel via paid prescription through the foxtel service.

I highly doubt that it would be restricted to watching it via a low quality streaming service.

  • ive tried sport over foxtel streaming and it's a little woeful

i get 720p no lag, though dropouts are not uncommon and adblock is highly recommended

i feel the need to mention i support the epl in other ways through merch, getting a ticket for the friendlies in melbourne

    otherwise

    enjoy

edit: actually, my friend highly recommends epl on demand on foxtel if youre strictly after a legal avenue. you need a solid intenret connection though

    • Why do you feel the need? It's not like streaming their product causes them any harm at all.

      • i got defensive when i saw 'legal' lol

    • Use this in conjunction with good speed internet and ace stream and you can get hd

  • I did the EPL on Demand through foxtel stream and the end of last season and it was good, but as i said i have NBN so for ADSL users the experience may be different. But starting next season there may not be a foxtel service at all so as i said before we're just gonna have to wait and see

  • I'm running epl on demand and it's awesome either via laptop, phone or smart tv

We will need to wait for Optus to release its options but it definately wouldn't be on their competitors Foxtel service
