i need to replace my Billion 7800n as it is becoming unreliable the Archer D9 looks like a good choice are there any deals coming ?

That's a router only, it does not have a modem.
You will need to buy (another) modem if you decide to roll with the WRT1900.
I use a mac, will any of these routers work with time machine ?
Your Time Capsule has a WAN port, connect this port via Ethernet to your modem router and then enable bridge mode. This way, you will disable the routing on Time Capsule, and instead connect your devices to your new modem/router.
