I am looking into building a computer and I can get an i5 6600 for $301 off ebay delivered with the 15% off code. I already purchased this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228251 ssd and its my first time building a computer. The cheapest for he cpu I could find elsewhere was $324 @ msy. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks.
Is $300 a good deal for an i5 6600?

yes 301 is less than 324 , the math is solid.
Yep. I faced a similar conundrum while I was helping my friend list parts for his new computer. Just ended up going with the last gen intel cpu to save some money on mobo and ram.
Depending on the parts it's not that much to get skylake. This person spent an extra $40 to go from haswell to skylake with comparable parts
The link I was meant to post in the previous comment was this one. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2484453
You said last gen(broadwell) which uses DDR4 ram.
Even if it was $100, I'd easily choose skylake over haswell
I paid $306ish for an i5 6600k from Kogan with 10% on December 6th. Pays to hold out sometimes, I'd wait and see what sales come up.
Yes, it's a good price http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=i5+6600&spo…
In case you didn't know the 15% off ebay code has expired.
