Whats the chances of 2x Seagate GoFlex slims, not working?

Hi,

I have had one of them plugged into a USB3 Dell Docking stand and powering them off using the monitor power switch at the base of the stand (shuts off power to the entire dock)

I noticed today that the LED is not coming on the slim GOFLEX.

So i tried a 2nd GOFLEX Slim and same thing, No LED!

I have tried different USB3 and USB 2 ports, but not light up the LED or register as an external drive.

If i remove the top cap off the case, then the LED lights up. plugging it back in stops everything.

On the odd occassion I can feel the HDD spin up but no light and no HDD detected.

Anythoughts?

Have you tried them on another computer? That would be where I would start.

If that fails, take the drives out and try plugging them in directly to internal SATA ports. If they don't show up there, then it's likely they're dead.
