The smart buy ones were at about $10/kg last i checked, although that does include some bones. Tastes decent IMHO. Anyone else tried them? Is it really salmon? Too bad fresh salmon is $30/kg…

Whats the difference between the red and pink?
Would be less gooey if they didnt soak it in brine (i dont get why canned stuff always has liquid in it).
I'll be honest. The price difference ensured I never tried the red.
Coles and john west Comes from the US wild caught and farmed in colder waters like alaska, ally is farmed from china and i think there is a tazzie one too which is farmed atlantic salmon.
Not sure why so cheap for pink. Maybe pink is thefarmed variety and red is wild
I lived off this stuff when I was in uni. Coles canned red salmon is more expensive than the pink. Seems pressure cooked. I'm a man of simple taste so take that into account but I like the taste of the Coles canned salmon. It's great on toast. The only short coming is the salmon skin is gooey and can be a gross out. Just gotta take that like a man.
