That was an awesome deal, got two sets then. Use one set several times per week, now I also game with them.
were there anymore left in liverpool?
If there is drilling going on in the house next door is the noise blocked so I can have precious minutes of sleep past 8am? I know it will depend on factors but something going at around 110dB about 20-30 metres away with single pane windows. I'm sick of constant noise . Most people will use them for public commute but just thinking of hopeful other uses, Dedicated moulded ear plugs are uncomfortable for me.
If you can stay on your back, and not role, sure. They do stick out form the ear, and there is a cord, but they block a tonne of sound.
I sleep on my back, no sound sounds good.
I doubt it. Bose is designed to filter low frequency noise like train and airplane. I suppose the drilling noise is on a higher frequency.
Any left?
seems to be out of stock at liverpool
Could you please post your QC20i invoice? I want to price match on my local JB HiFi. Thank you!
Great price… I have them already
TRS after purchase
Pity the stop after 3 year or regular use… Noise cancel battery
That is why I've hesitated to buy them, but I would certainly have got them for that price. I wish they had a deal like Apple does where you pay a fraction of the price and they update the battery for you. I would certainly buy them if that was the deal.
Can we price match this at other JB Hi Fi ?i.e. can OP post docket please
None left in JB Hifi Chatswood
I wish they were designed better. The battery pack shouldn't be so close to the 3.5mm connector. It makes the balance awkward. Especially if you're clipping your mp3 player to your shirt.
Otherwise the NC is very good. AQ is average.
Agree. I find I have to 'fold' the battery pack to sit behind my phone. Also not a fan of the soft rubbery material which kind of grips in your pocket when you try to get them out. I do love however that they don't tangle and the fact that they are amazing with the NC. One of my better impulse purchases.
The rubbery material is also a dust magnet…
That battery pack should be in the middle of the cable, and the clip should be on the battery pack itself.
Having the battery half way would make it a problem for 99% of people, it would be in the way or a hinderance all the time. Having it at an end is the best solution weight wise and of course you can't have it at the headphone end so where it is remains the best solution. It Han be attached or secured to the playing device if required and still allow full mobility.
@snuke: Why can't you have it on the headphone end? You haven't given any reasons to support this claim.
If it's in the middle, and you don't want it in the middle, you can coil it up to get it closer to your device.
Balance wise, I think it sucks at the 3.5mm end. Its weight isn't supported by your head, and must be supported by the device instead. So it will droop down below the device. If your device's 3.5mm jack is on the bottom, its added weight will pull down the device. If the jack is on the top of the device, the battery pack will drop down giving you a weird balance problem. If it's in the middle or nearer the earphone end, it stays where it is, no sagging.
I don't see how it being in the middle is a hindrance. That's how everyone else does it. Can you give an example of how or why?
Of course the best way to do it would be to do the way other manufacturers do it, which is a AA or AAA battery instead of a flat pack. That way you can reduce its size and volume.
If your MP3 player is a clip on type that clips to your shirt, you will understand why their solution is so terrible. But maybe I'm just an edge case.
@lostn:
At the headphone end ads weight to be pulling from your ears, fine for over the ear/head ones, but for ear buds you don't want extra mass tugging on the buds.
I guess it all depends on how you use it, but for me, it is either laptop, phone or game controller. Having it at the end means there is no hindrance along the cable length, so it is freer to move as required. For laptop, great, it stays to the side pit of the way. For phone, it stays behind the phone, so great in pocket, hand or cubby on plane. Game controller it is able to sit just below out of the way. If I used while exercising so on an arm band, it would be secured to that point too. So in all cases the cable between both ends is as free as possible stopping any extra pull on either end.
I used by over ear ones today while mowing, and having a snag point in the middle would have been a pain. In the pocket, out of the way works far better for me.
I know it as off putting when I looked at some Audio Technica ones that the controller was in a more mid position, I saw it been a hassle in every way I use them.
The AA or AAA ones I can see seem to end up with a bulkier package. Super helpful long term as they don't become useless when the battery life comes to an end.
Like everything, each to their own on what works.
@snuke: I've never used it with a game controller, but I imagine it would be pulling the controller down a bit. I prefer to use something with better AQ than some in ears, and I don't require ANC when gaming. The only time I use these is when I'm in a noisy environment, because the AQ is inferrior to most other earphones I have.
I think my ears can handle a bit of weight. It's not overly heavy by any means.
For phone, I don't know how you would get it to stay behind the phone without it coming loose. But I guess it depends where you are keeping the phone. For me it will always come loose and get in front of the phone if I move. It will also depend whether the jack is on the top of the phone/mp3 or the bottom or the side. If it's on the top, forget it.
The important thing I'm suggesting is, that if the battery unit was in the middle of the cable, they'd be able to include a clipper behind it so that it can attach to your shirt and stay fastened. Technically they could do this too if it was placed on the earbud end. That would also take the load off your ears, or your device. Your shirt would be supporting its weight. This is how every other ANC manufacturer does it. And I think it's a better solution than Bose's.
The QC20 does have a tiny clipper, but it's far from the battery pack and feels awkward. If you've tried running while listening to these, you will understand why the design is poor. That battery pack is just not going to stay in place. It will bounce around.
The AA are not bulkier. They feel lighter and have better balance due to their more practical positioning on the cable. And even if they were bulkier.. they clip to your shirt and stay in place. You don't even feel them.
I guess it varies with each person's use. But for me, the QC20's battery pack positioning has caused me nothing but irritation due to its inability to clip in place, and my preference to support the unit up high instead of down low.
I imagine it would be pulling the controller down a bit
Nope, it doesn't weigh enough to be noticed. Compared to the two other gaming headsets I have (TB PX5 and Sony something something) the AQ is actually superior. I was actually amazed at how much more I was hearing, especially with ANC turned on. I don't need ANC, but it sure does help more than I anticipated. The annoying thing about gaming headsets is that it is not possible to test them, they must be purchased; a real pain in the ass considering the best wireless ones cost a few hundred.
Phone is in pocket, most of the time the QC20s are attached, or in a storage cubby on a plane. I saw a video the other day where someone actually applied velcro to both the battery and phone. Whatever works I guess, never had the need.
With the exception of on flights, I never want the clip, I want the cable to be able to move freely as I move around. Cables not being able to move drive me nuts, a reason I am going to get some Sony MDR-ZX770BN tomorrow, so I can mow (ride on) without a cable being an issue with the crap I get into.
Maybe it was karma, but the day after I criticized the design of the QC20, I lost mine. I dropped it somewhere and within minutes someone took/stole it. I'm in a bit of a quandary right now. I want another pair, but I don't want to pay the asking price. I absolutely do not think they are worth the RRP of $400. I paid $300 just to try them out, knowing I paid more than I think they're worth. Even at $240 I don't want to buy another pair. And yet there's no other ANC in ears that are comparable… Not sure what to do now.
Take away the Bose tax, and I feel these are worth about $100. If it had no ANC, I wouldn't buy these for $20.
I was hoping by now Bose would have updated it to a new model that fixes my complaints with it. If so, I'd be tempted to buy another set.
I don't use gaming headsets as they are generally poor quality sound wise, but other wise my experiences differ from yours. If I use in-ears I have a bunch of much cheaper in-ears that sound better than the QC20. I recently got some Xiaomi's for under $20 that imo kill the Bose in AQ.
The battery pack is not heavy, but it shifts the center of mass of the combined device + headphones and balance in ways I wish it didn't.
Another thing about the QC20 is that its passive noise isolation is non-existent. If you don't turn on ANC, the noise level around you is the same as it would be if they weren't even in your ears. Now imagine if they had good noise isolation, in addition to Bose's superior ANC.. It would be even quieter! It has never managed to shut out all noise for me, even from fan noise (in the server room) which should be constant. But it does make it much more bearable to listen in such environments. I feel if it had better ear cushions that passively block noise, it would be a much improved product.

You do know that the clip is optional right? Having it there does not mean you have to use it. Just keep it unclipped. Everyone is happy. I want it clipped, you don't, and we both get our wish.
That sucks
Take away the Bose tax, and I feel these are worth about $100.
I can only compare to other ANC headphones I have owned and listened to, and based on that $300 is completely fair, hell probably $400 too. I have the MDR-ZX770BN but haven't given them a proper run yet, but I know their ANCis not anywhere near as good. As for AQ, well that is hugely subjective for every audio device, so it's all about what your ears like. I remember when I was looking for bookshelf speakers, some the highly regarded expensive speakers sounded like crap to me, only worth a few hundred. That is why trying all audio equipment first is ideal.
Is this nationwide?
I would like to know as well.
Receipt please.
it that the old one(black/white cable)? or new one(black/deep blue cable)?
