  • How long do filters last for? Say I drink a jug a day

    • 3 months each, the jug has a little screen that tells you when the time is up, doesn't matter how much you use it during that time. This looks like a good deal, usually about $10 a filter…

      • Great thanks, looks good. So I'll get about 1.5 years

    • That's very low usage. I make about 4-5 refills daily and replace my filter every 6 weeks.

      • Is it a litre? 750ml? How much in a refill?

        • There's no marking on the jug but I estimate it to be about 2 litres. Brita recommends replacing the maxtra once every 2 months for an average household (2+2 perhaps) but you may need to replace it more regularly if you live in a hard water area.

        • Well it depends. The different jug types have different capacities. Plus you don't always wait for the reservoir to be empty before refilling,

  • wow, great find. will go tomorrow morning. seems not available online, guess in store only.

I replace mine when the water starts tasting $hitty not when Britta suggests - which for me at 3-5 jugs per day is 4-5 months, lasts ages.

P.S. I'm one of those weirdo marginal folk who thinks there's nothing poisonous or evil in our scheme water, it just tastes average.

    • Same here - we use 3-4 jugs a day and change the filter around every 4 months or so. We'd have no problem with drinking scheme water straight out of the tap if it didn't taste so … average is the polite way of putting it!

  • How big is this Aluna Jug ? 2.5 Litre or 3 litre water ?

That's Big W signage not Target.

    • O_o you're right. Good spotting…

Bought the optimax today for $48 down from $79 at big w.

  • I hadn't come across this before but the discounted price only shows up when you are about to pay - ie you can't scan for the discounted price near the shelves, nor at the check out, until you hit the "Pay Now" button.

Thanks for the heads up, OP, and thanks scorpionsa for the correction. Would've been a massive disappointment going to Target for this! Also ended up price matching a $19 Laser DVD player from Harvey Norman at Big W.

  • out of stock at my local bigw. bought 12 filters. still a good deal i think.

  • No stock in armadale, wa.. Are there any stock in perth??

    • I went to Big W in Livingston (Canning Vale) and Riverton today, and both are out of the 6-packs. Anyone know if it is possible to raincheck these?

      • They had sold out of the 6 pack at Riverton when I went too but the nice lady who worked there let me grab two 3 packs and charged me the same as the 6 pack.

  • Great deal got onto it yesterday thanks OP!

Went to three Big W around my area Sydney inner west and they were all sold out. I found a similar offer from Ozaroo with free shipping to Aust from the UK for AUD$41.96 as charged on my credit card.

It's about $5-6 more but you get a different jug that can be stored in the fridge and it has an electronic cartridge change display on the lid.

Here's a link for anyone interested: Ozaroo

The 12 filter pack with an XL Jug offers are pretty good too.

Overall it's not bad I suppose as I rather pay $5 more instead of driving around or calling a few stores to find one in stock.

    • Looking at the link from OZAROO does anyone have experience with the XXL fridge dispenser and is it worth the coin?

    • I think you also get 10% discount on your first order

  • Still two 6 packs of filters on the shelf at Big W Mirrabooka at 11am today. No bonus jug sets though.

  • A few 6pk filters left in Keysborough. You can also use your woolworths e-gift cards on these as well.

  • not in Brisbane CBD either :(
